Espargaro was 4th before crashing with only 5 laps to go, and Viñales finished 6th. I wouldn´t say that´s nowhere

suzuki's pace was better than ducati and it seems that the lack seamless shift really caught them out on the start.

Agreed, the bike is awesome. Only a matter of time before Suzuki are challenging for a win.

They have so many ares that they can improve.

The position does not indicate the pace. Vinales was over a second a lap slower than the Yamaha's, Marquez looked like he would have had similar pace to the Yamaha's had he not binned it and Dovi would have atleast been with Pedrosa. The Suzuki's are still a long way from the top end.

Pedrosa finished 19.45 seconds behind the leader, so even Repsol-Honda was almost a second slower than the Yamahas

And he crashed because he can´t assume he´s not as fast as Yamaha right now

Obviously, right now even Honda is a long way from the top end, past seasons Marquez did what he wanted despite being a rookie, now he crash trying to equal Yamaha´s pace. But Suzuki is much closer than some weeks ago, they´ve improved a lot

In this case not really.

This is Suzuki's first year back remember.

It would be like Marussia, or Caterham sticking their car on pole position within the first few racings of entering F1, or the equivalent of the Haas team sticking their car on pole by Canada next year.

It would be like Marussia, or Caterham sticking their car on pole position within the first few racings of entering F1, or the equivalent of the Haas team sticking their car on pole by Canada next year.

Manor or Hass aren't given a competitive advantage though so the situation isn't completely comparable.

This is not as Weird as you put it, it has happen in the past with Honda,
Back in 2008 Hayden and Pedrosa spent a good part of the year flipping around between the 2007-08 chassis
and the 2007-08 engine trying every combination to find a fix.
I think that they ended up switching from Michelin to Bridgestone before the season was out.

It's been a long time, but I think back in 1984 Honda/Sprncer reverted back to the 83 bike for a couple of races,
I'll have to look that up, Does the internet go back that far ?

Thanks bdr529 i thought it was very weird at first by natural progression and understanding cars or bike must only increase in competetiveness but actually somehow they get it wrong!!

Not completely comparable no.

But how many other teams on the grid with major concessions have put their bike on pole position. Ducati is the only one. Aprilia came back this year as well, where are they?

The pole lap was 0.2 seconds faster than the nearest other manufacturer Yamaha. The soft tyres are thought to be 0.5 seconds a lap faster in Barcelona than the full factory allocation medium tyre. Back of envelope calculations says that they are down 0.3 seconds on Yamaha on comparable tyres with less power, poorer delivery of the power and no seamless gearbox.

The point is they are doing exceptionally well by any measure, but especially considering they are only 8 races in.
