Its steel belt and thats the problem combined with the fairly bad sidewalls.

The teams should have little defense now against a change to a different construction. The current tyre is unsafe at tracks that put much energy into the side walls.

deff more dangerous now... like someone posted earlier, it could have ended much worse for some of the drivers behind those exploding tires... -.-

Todt has called Hembery into the FiA motor home. There will be some very uncomfortable questions I think.

Ofc this is dangerous and we need changes ASAP cause of race this next weekend.

But this whole years including all the whining all the tyre gates and tyre explosions shows that everyone in this sport needs to be able to actually deliver what is being orderd of them.

I mean we can draw parallells to next years new engines, so far we have one more pre season test right ? What will happen if one of the manufacturers engines starts blowing up and --- up races ?

We all know, the teams all know and the FIA all know we need to save money, but not save so we compromise certain things in this sport.

That is a very personal view that I cannot share. Hembery is the guy who carries the can and has to answer the questions.

Its not personal, he is a Pr/marketing guy for Pirelli. And i mean that its not point in Todt talking to him cause he cant do anything, thats what i meant.

Nothing to see from those pics rly, better if we could get more pics from the tyres that were dmged but not broken, like the one i linked earlier to see if it was a cut on the sidewall on all of them.

Why would engine blowing up be a problem?

He is not PR or Marketing, he is the motorsport director. I.e. Boss of Pirelli motorsports... Why don't you look these things up before opening your mouth?

I think that Todt has a responsibility to take action for safety reasons. The story is relatively simple. Pirelli got sucked into neglecting safety in favour of entertainment. So they got it wrong and no amount of excuses will now detract from this simple fact.

The teams blocked Pirelli to make the change they thought was appropriate. The FiA needs to make sure that all remaining 2013 races are run on safe tyres. That is the priority now.

It appears both the primes and the options blew up today. That is going to complicate the problem further for Pirelli. They cannot claim the problem with the construction is only with one compound. The whole range of compounds are unsafe with this construction.

And the title doesn't matter, he is still on the commercial side of Pirelli. And the title doesn't equate to boss of Pirelli motorsports.

Well under English law a director has certain responsibilities. I think it will be difficult for Mr. Hembery to escape from that responsibility. He is lucky that nobody got injured or died.

If Todt is determined to bring Michelin back into F1 next year he has jut been given the perfect opportunity. Pirelli screwed up worse than Michelin in Indianapolis 2005.
