Even Grosjean succeeded to qualify himself in through Q3 on MEDIUM tyres.Only Rosberg an Hamilton were able to do the same, but not as fast as Kimi.
Lotus solved qualifying problems?Kimi faster for 0.992 seconds comparing to Grosjean?
Lotus had moments like that in Q2 before but than in Q3 the tend to have no speed at all!

They suck in the wet. So once again it will be a gr8 race and it will be said AGAIN that if Kimi and Grosjean would qual higher they would win

But their pace in Q1!!!
No matter if they are slow during wet track, mostly dry track pace matters.
This season Kimi hasn't topped any of the practice or qualifying sessions.I think this is a sign of big improvement for Lotus.

If it is reflection, it should be from the slot gap separator, but I'm still inclined to think this is a real hole:
(
posting a URL, as it's big)
http://f1zoom.fx1.nl/?year=2012&race=ge ... 542&full=1
Anyway, judge for yourself, I'm not going to spend more on that, but it's really interesting to see what Lotus is cooking. I guess time will tell.

Why would you think that? I mean you can't paint a hole as I've shown on the last page. This is the picture where you can clearly see your overpainted "hole".

Dear all,
I was in Hockenhem during the free practice on Friday and took pictures of the Lotus, both Raikkonen's and Grosjean's rear wings show the exact same reflection... I hope that clarifies the discussion.
This is my first post in the forum, so hopefully I am able to attach the pictures,
Regards,
Pablo

OK, chaps, thanks for the clarification, I hope that puts an end to the story, though it would have been an interesting theory.

did Kimi run it in Q?

No, he didn't and they need more data to know if it works or not. At the moment they are playing it safe (and smart IMO) and they don't use it asa a permanent solution.
Boullier's speaking about the system:

Kimi did however run the airbox with the 2 new ducts in it without the stuff connected to the wing.

Which effectively tells us they are creating DF from those ducts via most probably exiting the air through the lower cooling hole. No point running that engine cover / ducts if you have the normal spec there as it will create more drag.

I agree.That sounds logical.

the question remains, was he faster with that system?

I'd say mariginally, difficult to quantify with RoGro being much further down the grid and being on differing tyre stages due to RoGro's early pit stop. Looking down the timing sheets though Kimi was marginally quicker throughout.

How would that create downforce?
The inlets appear to be bonded to the chassis, and that's why they weren't removed.
