So Honda still has two more PU updates to develop, right?
One this years, and the final for last year, to be homologated.
No I believe this year's PU's are frozen too just like last year(For this year of course)

Where's this gossip coming from?
It's not new news actually, Tanabe has been transparent about the issues.
Did Tanabe say the replaced parts were in a state beyond repair?

Before last Saturday Tanabe has only said that one ES of Gasly is beyond repair.
I haven't heard anything about the 6 parts of Yuki's crash last weekend,
but it will undoubtedly still be possible to repair parts of them.
( Because he had to start at the back of the grid, they replaced all 6 parts.)

And what about the parts of Perez?
They have been checked as a precaution and repaired where necessary and are in the pool.

So it isn't that bad at all.

Are you sure? I distinctly remember one upgrade.

I thought the same, but apparently no in season upgrades allowed. Honda is currently developing it's 2022 Power Unit that is flex fuel capable and will have that ready to hand over to Red Bull powertrains for use in 2022.

Any reference? I also heard on this forum that there'll be two new spec PUs this year.
I wonder if they'll only be allowed to use the PU that they'll introduce in 2022. What if it's deeply flawed? Are they allowed to use older specification PUs?

They are. But they won't because they cannot. As of 2022, the engines will be designed to use the mandatory fuel containing twice the amount of ethanol compared to 2021. Which means changes to the combustion.
This years ICE is now locked. The development of the 2022 engine is ongoing.

What? Can you explain?
I think Sasha's suggesting that Wazari on f1tech and Yasuaki Asaki (whose photo is a few posts back) from HRD's powertrain R&D are the same person. I may be reading that wrong.

Yeah, that was what it seemed to imply. But ... that doesn't sound likely, does it ? Or maybe it meant one of the other pictures further back in the thread was taken by Wazari. Not sure that was what was meant either. Or ... well, I just don't know exactly what was meant.
Anyway, Honda are on a roll ! Oh, yeah, they're also pulling out at the end of the year. So, I wonder how many, if any, technical development staff (as opposed to production, maintenance) will be seconded to Red Bull. Could be an interesting experience for some Japanese engineers to be thrown directly into Red Bull F1 culture.

Wazari's side hustle is "hand model"
