what's the two things sticking out....? I thought it was twin throttle body set-up but like since like eons f1 cars where always individual throlle trumpets wasn't it?
Looking at it further I think these will be the inlets for the intake manifold the big pipe in the centre is intake for turbo .

Those are most definitely throttle bodies.

As for the rest, I don’t think should be in a single seater formula series, but that’s just me. What a clunky mess.

Would you care to elaborate?

Why would they obscure the area under right hand exhaust manifold?

The ES, the MGUK and the engine itself is well revealed. The turbo is not very hidden (but we cannot see the compressor part at all).

But this lower area... What could be going on in there?

Maybe the engine is so much more compact it just looks bigger. :)

Maybe they're just creating a bit of mystery to guide attention.

Typical to run single throttle bodies per plenum. Indy Car (have been mostly turbocharged through the decades) traditionally ran two throttle bodies, one was a fail safe in case the other hung.

With modern turbo controls, ECU fueling and ignition, and drive by wire, the throttle bodies aren’t the only thing and sometimes rarely control load. Often they stay wide open to manage pumping losses while torque demand is controlled by everything else, like a diesel.

Thanks, but this, to me, does not explain why you called it a mess.

I think the rules are clunky and the place to exhibit technology is in endurance racing, not a single seater, sprint formula series.

Would that be the MGUK sitting alongside the ES? Blurry cylinder. It would allow placement of that mass ahead of the ICE while keeping it as low as possible, rather than stacking it atop the ES.
There we have it.

Releasing photos so soon. Is this part of the new engine agreement perhaps? Status of forces. Otherwise I have to assume this is only an earlier R&D unit.

Is the MGUK there (in front) mainly for weight distribution reasons or must it be in the surviving cell?
