It will take time to get used to but I think we'll come to accept the cars. Everytime there is a rule change we see mock-ups that, compared to what actually gets made, is accurate but fugly.
I have a feeling the designers will make some great looking machines. Although I still need time to accept that rear wing. Tall? Okay...but that skinny? ergh.

yep skinny rear wing is my only problem with it... but I could not care less if it gives us more/better wheel to wheel racing.

I found this paper, maybe its useful for someone...
http://www.ae-plus.com/Journals/Design% ... ars%20.pdf
Originally i wanted to get this paper by Toet & Zerihan, but i couldn't find it in other page (i'm a poor student without money xD)

Remember teams have ways to 'bend the rules' and add aero parts which will help loads to this intial drawing... Its basing the car design on this years side pods, they might be completely different especially with no barge boards etc.
Lets wait and see, hurry up testing!!

Well, then it shows were F1 is headed, because the front wing for 09, will nearly be taken off of an American indy car.

Is the lower wing/support width also reduced?
Maybe the rear wing may look like this

sorry for such a "drawing"

outstanding indeed... could we get a better look at the diffuser outlet in the rear? Got any underbody comparison shots 2008 vs 2009?
Do the rules increase or decrease the amount of underbody downforce? I heard arguements for both cases... the front wing will allow much more air to the underbody, as will the higher rear wing of the car they are following, but was the size of the diffuser reduced? Also it was moved back I believe, whataffect will that have? Will it move the center of pressure rearwards?
I wonder about the torsional rgidity of that rear wing, even with it being narrower. it seems like t will move side to side every easily, especially since there are no center supports... do the rules speciafically ban them?

The downforce is cut by a half at the diffuser level.
The reason is the loss of the central section which was 800x300x400mm (L,W,H) and this is done on purpose, this is a very important feature of the new package helping to clean the wake.
It is expected the diffuser to make only 15-20% of the total downforce compared to the actual 40-45%
Also it was moved back I believe, whataffect will that have? Will it move the center of pressure rearwards?
Yes and it was done on balance purpose to shift the local center of pressure closer to the one of the rear wing.
The move aft will make the coupling with the rear wing less efficient.

The rules specify the same rigidity requirements than now.
