I've watched Top Gear from the first series and I have to say the previous one and the current one are going a bit down hill. I know the cocking-around part is supposed to be funny and distinguishes itself from Fifth Gear, and it was funny to begin with, but now it just seems to drag everything out. For example last week with the road works, and this weeks with the coupe's, 20 mins review!

I've been lucky enough to be a passenger in a TT on the dragstrip, trust me, no VW could accelerate like that. The TTs sportscar secret is its 4WD which I don't think the Golf has.

Well, the Golf R32 is a 4WD. But that doesn't tell the whole story obviously. Sometimes, similar engineering is developped on different platforms, but the tuning isn't necessary the same (torque adjustment, revs peak, sport chipset, etc). For instance BMW and Peugeot are developping engines together, but in the BMWs the blocks are more powerfull than in the less sporty Peugeots. (although fuel consumption might differ proportionnaly)

As well as what vyselegend was saying, technology such as the DSG gearbox is shared between each manufacturer, as well as the 2.0 litre supercharged engine found in the VW Golf GTi

How ironic it is that Captain Slow has now driven the fastest (in a road car, of course), of all of them. 407km/h...
If you haven't seen it, hurry up, because it seems that BBC has been working O/T trying to delete them all from youtube.

HaHa! They have TG on in America now. Wednesday nights at 8:00 on The Science Channel. Be warned, they are 2 year old episodes. What is the point of seeing the slide a Porsche 996 and Jaguar XKR around in the sand when both cars are out of production?

I think you guys will know that Topgear also has a newssite, one of the biggest in the UK. But look what I found in one of the articles:
Peugeot is convinced that this all-aluminium 100-degree V12 will generate less vibration than its V10 rival from Audi, thus benefiting reliability.
Saying that, the Audi R10 endurance racer won the not only Le Mans in 2006, but also the notoriously tough Sebring 12-hours... with a V10 diesel.
It's already the 5th time I notice a mistake on their website....
Audi R10 a V10

Come on, don't tell me you don't enjoy Borat. And cars. And senseless destruction.
Borat, with cars! Yay!

Well, seein as I'm a Southerner and a "hick", I took a dim view of the humor. But the part when Jeremy said he wasn't gay, and that he was married with three kids was hilarious!

It was overall very very funny, but I don't think assumptions of Southerners should be taken.

This clip was somewhat funny, but since when did a show named "TOPGEAR," mainly about performance cars turn into "JACKA**," and try to tick off as many people as possible. I do not see the point of what they did and what would compell them to travel across the pond to scurry with some Southners. Honestly, what is this show coming to?
*edit* Maybe if I saw the whole episode I would know why they did what they did, but I can't imagine any reason that justifies why this car show did what they did. I love the reviews on the cars they do, but I wish they could jsut stick to that, more like FIFTH GEAR. To me, this show is now similar to the tuner magazines you see at the local book shop (mostly pictures of women half naked and a few random car facts thrown in here or there). But instead of women, they have stupid antics.
