Never dapper Giblet in fact more 70s rock and roll. We had the top hat and coat image copying Screaming Lord Sutch for the stage. Jeans and T shirts for casual, trousers shirt and tie for work usualy.
I have helped run the odd fashion show though and I like most art including original ideas for clothes.
Wore uniform for a while and I always thought the Canadians wore theirs better than most. In fact Canadians just seem to have a class of their own on their continent. You can tell a Canadian from the others at a distance every time.
They seem to carry themselves better some how.

Well enough about if the caps are cool or not.
I want to know, IS there a market for it?
I just want to know, IF your favorite f1 team is going to produce the New Era caps with their logo on it just like their normal caps now got, WOULD you consider to buy one OR do you THINK people would buy one?
Why would they or why wouldn't?
(And saying that they are not going to be good on the market because you look like a rapper is stupid so PLEASE don't post it THANK YOU)

I am trying to work out how to get 'rebok' on the side of an Eaton boater.
Baseball caps were copied from 19th century 'cricket caps' and they are as 'original' as everything else that comes from the greed culture.
Ah yes, remember the days when men were men?
They held meetings on Ferris wheels
They formed barbershop quartets
They searched the world for sculpture
But mostly they wore great hats.
Well, I don't remember those days. My first fashion/style memory is kids wearing their pants backwards because Kris Kross said it was kool (so is spelling everything with a 'k').
I can see your point, though. It's a little ridiculous that these days manufacturers distress your jeans for you. But like Giblet said, I can't pull off that smart button-down look unless it's what everybody's wearing, and maybe not even then.

Rest assured there will be a market and how big it will be, depends on how hard it is marketed and who they can get to wear it in the media.
That is all that matters these days.

The reality is that most people don't know how to properly form the bill of a baseball cap!
Others think this style of leaving it flat is cool when it's so totally lame!
And finally "The Splendid Splinter", and Joltin' Joe!

America is not my home my holiday or even my interest, dress sense and style has yet to reach that far, although the 'dream' illusion is at least decaying a bit now.

All hats are lame for me. If you live in civilization and you can afford private or public transport what is the point of a hat? You only have to bother not to loose it. Probably cold and sun protection for the bald headed is a use. I would agree for those individuals to use a wooly hat in winter and a cap in summer. Personally I only wear head gear when skiing above 2500 m of altitude
together with lower face protection
and in severe desert conditions where rag head or legion etrangere style gear is most convenient.
My fashion sense would rate the flat baseball cap higher than the new era. The new era look silly in my view, a bit like Hoss Cartwright.
I can't help myself to find that a bit hill billy compared to a smart Adam or little Joe look.

Well first of all i went to german gp in 2009 with NO McLaren clothes at all. When i came back i had LOTS of McLaren stuff. And when i were there i saw MANY people with caps and the sun wasn't even shinning. It is about supporting your team, just like in football where everybody is wearing a football shirt. And i think that Formula 1 has that with caps. But alright if you can't afford or don't want to buy one that's your choise but i think it is a lame excuse to say that you don't need one if you take public transport >.> That means you don't need a umbrella to i bet you got one of those.
And my skin burns like HELL when i get into the sun, so not only bold people but people who skins get burned very fast by the sun need caps to. And people who can't come in the sun for medical reasons, or people who are sunbading but don't want their face to burn. I think it is cool when you can wear a cap in those situations wichs is not also cool but also shows your love for your favorite team.

It is just the human need to follow a leader.
It is locked into everything we do from fighting wars to buying hamburgers.
I stopped watching football and other ball games when they began bringing in foreign and out of area players years ago. I could not see the relevence to 'team' games based on geographical location any longer. In anycase I stopped being interested in football when I left school and found motor racing
(a grown up sport).
All the hype about wearing clothes and caps to promote products, which is all it is about, iritates me no end.
IMO it is a direct result of the International 'greed' system that promotes that silly 'dream' thing and has recently given most of our tax money to the criminal
'-ankers' just so they can keep leaching off the rest of us.
As to style. I think people should take a year or two to study some basic art before making comments on that. As I said before the caps being promoting are copies of 19th century or earlier cricket caps. Individual? No chance.

+1
How silly is this?
They sit in a fully air conditioned room with artificial light. The whole point of wearing race overalls and caps is generating sponsor exposure. I remember pre 1996 you seldomly saw a driver with head gear at all. It all started with the corporate madness. Even today when you see drivers in private settings very few of them would wear head gear and only where it is functionally needed.
Even here on track side half the guys are without caps, which would be unthinkable now.

Anyone who's been to a race will have seen the mass of people waiting to buy a Ferrari/Mclaren/Lewis hat. Merch is where teams get alot of their money so what better way to promote it than on the drivers themselves.

Honestly, people don't buy racing car hats because they like hats, it's because they like racing. Someone who wants to look stylish doesn't buy a Ferrari hat, a Mclaren hat, or a Red Bull hat. Sorry doopie2you, but 'coolness' plays a part. The majority of people who would buy a New Era hat for cool factor, are not going to buy a Force India New Era hat. It's going to have whatever logo that person thinks is cool, and in the 'hip hop tradition' it's going to be a ball sports team, school, or a brand.
Older folks won't buy a hat that makes them 'look like a rapper' in THEIR eyes. Same reason I won't wear mascara as I think it would me look EMO, even if I am wrong. Perception is 99% of fashion. I wish my lawn was emo, so it would cut itself.
I only wear ball caps to work, cuz it gives me a convenient place to stick a pencil. A New Era hat my pencil would fall to the floor. I have a HondaJet cap as that was given to me at an airshow, but outside of work, I basically wouldn't be caught dead in it. I'd only wear a racing hat to work as well, as I don't want to be branded a motorhead by every female walking by. The sort of girls I am into would look no differently at a Ferrari hat or Chevy hat. Ew redneck they'd think.
Some people might buy a New Era hat with Ferrari on it, but they would probably have bought a regular Ferrari cap anyways.
Just my 2cents, and for the record, I like many kinds of music, rap included. K'Naan is my curretn fave, then I can put on a Five Finger Death Punch right after. My style reflects diversity, and a race cap is not very diverse, New Era or not.

Well, I have to say that I don't leave my home without a New Era on my head. And I fully agree that there's a difference whether you go buy one to look cool or to support your favorite driver or team.
The difference for me would be that if teams offered New Era styled cap I would buy one (I would buy the cap of my favorite team anyway) but I would wear it, too. Right now, I only wear the motorsport caps when I attend a Formula 1 GP. If I attend other races I usually go there "plain-clothed". But I would wear a New Era styled cap way more often in my leisure time than a normal fan cap.

I thought Kimi was like most guys from the Northern cold areas who mostly wear underpants on their heads.
You learn something new everyday dont you.

Same here,
But the reason i don't wear cap from my favorite team is because they only sell the normal kind of caps, if they would sell New Era i would buy and always wear it.
