mx_tifosi wrote:Um that's an oddly worded series of questions. But Alonso's race engine from Bahrain is out as it failed in Malaysia. The engines were replaced after qualy in Bahrain. I don't have stats for each engine and each session and GP that they participated in though.
And the reason why I said that the first set of Bahrain engines can't be used for races is because they overheated and shouldn't be trusted in race conditions where points are at risk. The overheating plus the mileage accrued relegates them to FP's and possibly qualy.
IMO.
The engine cannot be used in qual or race by rule. They could have inspected the engines and found them just fine - those would not race or qualify again anywayF1 Sporting Regulations wrote: 28.4 e) If an engine is changed in accordance with Article 34.1 the engine which was replaced may not be used during any future qualifying session or race with the exception of the last Event of the Championship.
34.1 Each car will be deemed to be in parc fermé from the time at which it leaves the pit lane for the first time during qualifying practice until the start of the race. Any car which fails to leave the pit lane during qualifying practice will be deemed to be in parc fermé at the end of Q1.
Ferrari admits engine problemsmx_tifosi wrote:Am I wrong in that Alonso has 7 active engines from which to rotate through going into the Chinese GP?
And Massa has all 8 engines to rotate from as well??
Albeit some at a limited capacity.
Please correct me if I'm wrong. I won't mind.

This means that for the remaining 16 races of the season Alonso has only five new engines to use, with one unit still capable of doing around 1,680 kilometres and another one, available only for Free Practice, with close to 860 kilometres left.

The answer my friend is blowin' in the wind.Stefano Domenicali wrote:We don't know what is exactly the nature of Fernando's engine problem at the moment, and we don't know what is the situation on Sauber's engines.
As of now it's two engines..mx_tifosi wrote:Exactly Raymundo, only Alonso has completely eliminated an engine. The ones from Bahrain are still useable, but only for FP's.
It's the one raced in Bahrain (replaced after Bahrain quali as they say).raymondu999 wrote:Yeap. But we don't know if the failed unit is the Bahrain Fp-only one, or if it's the melbourne/bahrain race engines.
