Fact is they were garbage in those years, unreliable and slow. They only turned a corner last year to some degree, but really it's only since this year that their engine is decent in most areas. It's still clearly behind mercedes so nothing has changed on that front.

Their engine was already decent in most areas last year. And the 2020 engine is just a B-version of that engine. All this, while spending half as much money as Honda (one of the reasons Honda is leaving but not Renault?) and spending around 800hours/season on the dynos (close to the new dyno testing limitations) while Honda spent allegedly 5 times more hours and Ferrari/Merc 2 times more than Renault atleast.
And they are working on a fully new PU for 2021-2022 since 2018
--> still big room for improvement for Renault, with reasonable costs. : )

Crap reliability? Nooo. This year is is bulletproof and good power. Just look at the speed traps

Red Bull should beg on their knees. The way Renaulr were treated in media is just horrible. At least they have to dig deep in their pockets unless they are buying the entire f1 engine design from Honda...

They were treated like they should be treated, --- engine, --- manager, --- reliability. Pretty sure they won't go back. You better leave then take a Renault engine again.

I think that just slapping 30 million on the table would be convincing enough. Alpine has be profitable by themselves including F1 expenses. All easy money is welcome.

Spec A of the 2019 PU was unreliable. But spec B and especially C were very reliable. The latter ran the 7 gp distance without problems. And those two last engines were probably the first PUs that could be tested on Viry's new full-car test bench.

Exactly. They have at least got it together. If a redesign of architecture will come , they could perhaps buy the split turbo from their partner Mercedes.

That depends on the response you get to the complaints. If its 'Ah, yes, we will look at getting this fixed', you do.
If its 'too bad, that is what it is, go away', the only option is to make it public. Not before exhaustion of other options of course
