Another busy weekend,
This weekend I drove to the South West and met up with Dan who has supplied quite a few parts.
I have now added a set of drive shafts

Managed to buy my first wheel centre, these seem hard to find

And the gearbox entrance with bearings intact (not sure of it official name)

Plus a camera mount plate

Thanks Dan, really appreciate the help

Then I drove to see Bjorn with his fantastic RA107. I have seen the pictures and all I can say is "wow". It is without doubt a fantasic and beautiful car and its good to meet someone, with his wife, who are on a mission to make the car run again. Great couple too.
I then managed to secure a set of travel tyres from Bjorn, again thanks

And on top Bjorn kindly gave me a tip for my damaged BAR nose.

Thats me for now.

The post man delivered some Livelock fasteners today. These are mainly for bodywork and can retail at £30 each. These are all used but perfectly good.

And a signed pictures of Olivier Panis in a similar spec BAR but this one looks like it was taken at Silverstone

Getting ready for next weekend where I start bolting the chassis together thus one step nearer to rolling.
I have a good collection of the relevant bolts etc but for those who do not know
Bodywork fasterners look like this

These are bolted into receivers that are built into the carbon bodywork

a few more of the required nuts and bolts

Hi bhallg2k The front ones weigh in at around 6kgs. Hope that helps?

This week I have also tracked down and purchased a universal steering column joint from a Honda

That looks like steel. I would have expected a more exotic material. Is there a reason to do with the loads it needs to sustain?

Hi Henning,
you are right that is a steel component. It was from a show car and as planned I will use certain parts to build my project into a roller. At that point I will start an even harder challenge, like F1snake and start investigating how I need to upgrade certain parts to run it. The steering rack and certain elements of suspension will need to be upgraded at that point.
As mentioned its not a quick win but a long term goal to have this chassis running again, all be it with a slightly cheaper engine and more affordable gearbox plus consumables such as break pads, tyres etc
Hope that helps

Thanks to all the positive messages but it looks like the project will now no longer be as the temptation became too much and I have purchased a full F1 roller. More details to follow and pictures on another thread once its here and I have the chance.
Although this project was hard it was not out of the reach of anyone so by all means take up the challenge and build one yourself and beat my progress.
Many thanks
