Bearings not the problem.
Looks like by Hasegawa words update is coming to Canada or race after that.
Is that the big update? Do you have the info?
Hasegawa didn't mention vibration. I wonder if they solve it and of course consumption.
If coming update brings more reliability, lower consumption and vibration issues solved, it will be reasonably good update. And also he said they found a bit performance. I hope it will not be less than spain's 10 kw

Heat distortion of the turbine?

Intake and exhaust tuning, a new fuel injection system, new spark plugs, new hydraulic pumps for the engine, and further mapping tweaks, I'm sure there's another 10kW hiding in there. These things always evolve like that, just when you think there are no more gains to be made you go and prove yourself wrong.
I imagine even if the turbomachinery is very efficient, and the switching and control electronics are also top of the line and incredibly efficient, there is a lot to be gained from developing how the power unit is integrated via the control electronics. That's probably why they speak so much about mapping, they realize there is another few tenths left in optimizing MGU-H to MGU-K to ES to Ancillaries to ICE interaction to maximize power mileage and torque demand.
The storage medium ie the battery allows energy to flow to and from all these systems, which in one way or another are all physically linked.

Not the major upgrade but with so many problems with the whole PU package, minor upgrades are big.

10 down, 70 to go?

20 if you count the Spain update, so 60 to go, almost at Renault pace now maybe 20kW off.

Maybe this long shaft starts bending? causing wear/problems
TC&MGU-H being 1 package seems like not very good decision reliability wise

We know that bearings fail, but don't know why... so problem might be elsewhere, bearings just the first to fail

Its always as that but most of the time You just need more strength!

That after so many fails, Honda doesn't use best/strongest bearings available is doubtful
Obviously, something is shattering the bearings... either vibrations are not completely eliminated, or something else could be in play

But if You are checking bearing with hand... so only indication about failure is bearing itself (not the other thing).
In genera if "other" cause is known then You could use that for indication that bearing will fail.

They are forcing limits for 5 race and five weekend's FP sessions long life parts with most possible lightness. So this is not just strongest part issue. I don't think anybody can produce directly and in the first try a product with metioned working life fitting Honda design, same lightness and same size. İf it is not same size, it is already wrong part and if it is heavier it's out of concept. Saying just it is not best quality or it is not strong is not true. Who knows maybe it is just lubrication caused issue occurs on bearing.
