Then you sell it for around 1000Euro or something like this. :D
Anyway I would rather prefer to use a different engine.
Of course with same or less displacement.

that should be o.k. IMO

a top touring car chassis sells for ~3000$ at the moment

I mean just the selfmade plastic cover.
I think thats what the rule is talking about at this point.
Not the whole car.

yes mep
I understood what to meaned, I just mentioned the chassis price as a relation.
The body price is ~120-140€ for a F1 model afaik
Touring car bodies starts at ~90€

hey 747, thanks for that exploded axle pic!
so about flexures
Image
Those are the dark goldish colored pieces that the arms bolt-in to right?

that pic's from automotiveforums, that model 191 was quite a build

no the goldish parts on this model are the pick up points or clevises.
This car does not use flexures, it uses uniballs.

the simplest way to think about a flexure is to take your steel or plastic ruler and bend it. It will bend in one direction but not in the other.

some early explanations and samples are here, but I think some of the photo links are broken.
http://www.scarbsf1.com/wishbones.html

if you look at the top wishbone rearwards mounting of the Renault (where the two dampers fit to the gearbox) you see a flexure in this photo

not all teams use them on the rear, but most do on the front - afaik

the first F1 car to officially use flexure type wishbone mounts was John Barnards F412 :

you can see in the upper wishbone mount to the tub what it looks like

ohh okay. Thanks for that.
Why flexures instead of uniballs?
Is because of stiffness?

Also, about honeycomb cores, whats a good place to buy them from?
I checked plascore but didn't come across pricing
I didn't find alot on eBay, but there was someone selling aluminum honeycomb sheets by the lot.

honey comb is hard to buy if you are not getting a ton of it. maybe check fiberglast.com Myabe look in to balsa or foam core

you need honeycomb plus resinfilm system to do a competent layup it is not very useful to go all the way and do honeycomb only to add weight with wet layup and tons of excessive resin filling the core...

company formerly called sp systems/ gurit is a good source :

I still wonder why you don't get this stuff on e-bay.
Many companies +private persons use this stuff so there should be lots of cut off available.

I checked on ebay. There was some aluminum honeycomb before, but I checked today and didn't find any. For nomex honeycomb it got zero results.
Maybe it comes around once in awhile or something. It might be nicer to get it from ebay, like pricing wise

But still thanks for the honeycomb links
marcush, what exactly do you mean by resinfilm system?
Is there a film that should be applied to honeycomb before its placed in the cloth?

you should use prepreg carbon if you are using core otherwise a wet layup will fill the core with resin. Depending on the fiber volume of your Prepreg it may be necessary to add a film adhesive to get the core to stick to the fibers

as thin as your laminate needs to be the loss in shear strength and complexity probably isn't worth using a core. if you are building a tub you will get plenty of stiffness from the shape.
