FP1: Spec 3 is really good and sounds so much better than Spec 2

Is it certain both drivers are using same spec?
Or it´s possible they´re using same spec Fernando tested in Baku with Alonso´s car while they´re testing a further step forward on Stoffel car?

I'd say hardware is the same, but the mapping may be different between each car. I know they were going to do more map work here that they didn't get to do at Baku. So it's possible Vandoorne was running a higher state of tune, Alonso something closer to race pace. All just speculation at this point though.
My concern is I'm not sure they are both using the revised MGU-H... Some comment Crofty made had me sceptical. I may of misheard though.
But it definitely sounds far better than the previous engine. Noticeably different than the other races.

Have you considered the possibility that Vandoorne might actually be quicker for once during FP?
I know, it's a bold suggestion

Yes, but as you say yourself it would be a first, so I was wondering about other possibilities. Since they´re finishing the full spec 3 PU I was wondering if maybe they did something similar to Baku, using FP1 (and maybe FP2) to test the spec wich will be used next on one car

From what i understand alonso took penalties for the new spec engine he used in baku so im guessing hes using the exact same engine , Vandoornes new spec engine might be newer maybe even be a slightly better spec who knows...

Impossible.

Vandoorne has joined Alonso, stating the new PU is not delivering much. It's only a small step. So maybe the 12 BHP that Honda said it would be was true? Instead of the 30 BHP that other sources claimed.

Hasegawa san talked about spain update as small update which was 10 kw and talked about this update that it brings 0.3 sec and say looking forward to see how it will work at this race. For same level of update why he makes such a different introducing? İt is a bit strange if you are right

On a side note I see "things" that I was involved with in those pictures. Always a nice feeling.

Some nice packaging for sure.
Let's hope things start to look up for McLaren and Honda after this weekend.
