Can anyone post the speed trap figures for Spanish GP please?
Just to compare the difference in the top speed with other teams.

I not sure much can be read into the speed trap data for the Spanish GP .
Hulkenberg nearly 20kph faster than Button ... Button only 4Kph slower than the race winner.
Although Rosberg must have turned his engine down early when he realised Ham was going to be no threat .. Rosbergs fastest speed was early on .. where as most were done later when they had burnt fuel weight off.

This gives an interesting insight in to what Honda did in 1988, some of the challenges they face with the ICE and some of the solutions developed for better fuel economy.

Ricciardo and Kvyat only 1 kph faster than Button. Honda look set to eclipse Renault soon.

Maybe. Button said the car was 'scary' to drive at the Spanish GP in the high-speed corners as it was giving him a lot of wheelspin. This suggests that Honda may have turned up the power at the expensive of driveability and they need to potentially revisit their mapping to give the drivers a more nuanced PU.
I agree by the end of the season, Honda should be regularly beating the Renault-powered cars.

Honda already eclipse Renault in the power department. If Button having all the wheel spin problems was 1 kph slower, without the traction control problem Button will be faster than the Red Bull guys.

Too much variables to state this methinks....aero philosophy has huge influence.
And top speed has ^3 relationship with power. Increasing power from say 780 HP to 820 HP will increase top speed from 330 to 335 km/h.
Such an increase is easily done with aero setting toward lower downforce.
But you already know this

Might have to wait till Monaco or even Monza to make a verdict on the engine. Those two tracks have extreme setups so any drag/downforce compromises are supposed to be null and void (I hope!). I Monaco we can assess the traction and in Monza both the traction and outright power.

Yeah sure, but relative form or let say development curve is still HUGE factor to judge car from race to race and could be very misleading. Thing is that the F1 is pretty dynamic and relative thing. So i expect here on TECH forum to account that into "interpertation" of course.

This was slightly tongue-in-cheek, Renault are clearly suffering at the moment and I expect them to get faster through this season.

I predict a fairly "good" engine after summer break only

Aria predicting a podium mid season.

Perhaps when they take their next engine there will be a significant upgrade. Possibly not unsing tokens as I think they will keep them a late as they can in order to bring as much performance as possible with "reliability" upgrades whist at the same time develop the best use of the tokes. Once the tokens are used, you can't go back.

So there are no upgrades to the engine in testing?
I thought there was a major upgrade in Spain, now it has been pushed back to after Monaco?

They never said Spain would have a large update package. They said Spain would start a cycle for a series of updates coming over the next few races.
Stevesingo that article is, forgive my French here, bull****. Arai's actual comments were that he is targeting a podium mid season-he hopes. He never said it will happen. They conveniently left out that part of the quote. Arai is not the best English speaker which means he often makes mistakes speaking English and press being what it is chews it up even more and spits it out to readers and then people come on this forum posting how Arai is predicting a podium by mid season, what utter rubbish.
