Yes, thanks to your penalty you once more did not have to look long for your car in the standings...
Congratulations to TF and esp. to CAEdevice. With two victories in one season you simply did the best job. But TF showed the greatest improvement throughout the season. So next year there is a new contender for the trophy. I hope Variante will be back on top as well.
I will spend the winter making the meshing process better as it is key to good and stable simulations. Also I will change how the cooling flow is measured as it was too confusing to too many people and required skills that not everyone here had. As my tool is supposed to make CFD super easy it has to improve. Also it will get a new and shorter name.

Congratulations to CAEDevice for the championship and all the staff for their stunning work.
I'm really happy with my final 3rd place and with the victory at LeMans. It has taken me a long time but I finally got my head around with OpenFoam. This is mostly thanks to the more user friendly tools we had this year. This is going to be key in order to attract new contenders in the future.
The other thing is a ready to race car that newcomers could use that is fully rule compliant and has reasonable performance. As someone said before we could try to make an intro car with front and rear two element wings were people can play with AoAs and adjust it to different circuits ala lmp2. I'm thinking that I could provide one. Then if Mateo provides other it will really be like lmp2.
On a different topic, did any of you see Audis lmp1 proposal for 2017?? It looks like they took inspiration from someone in mvrc!

I thought they quit WEC no?
can't seem to find a picture. do you have one?

They did indeed quit, but some model of their work appeared.
In some tweet I read that they were planning to exit the radiator cooling flow from the top of the side pots to allow for air to pass between the rear wheel wells and the tub in order to blow over the rear diffuser. That is basically CAEDevice and Variante's concept.

thanks, indeed the concept is similar

I thought the same thing when I saw it, definitely looks like they have been keeping tabs on MVRC

Shame they're leaving WEC. Would have been nice to see how it actually performed

Finally a result without cooling issues. I really dont mind the penalty at this point. Apart from the cooling issues, i feel pretty good about the cars i produced this season.
By the way is it worth learning Autodesk Inventor? Im not an engineer or something but i feel that if i learn a cad software my cars will improve.

What do you use currently?

It would be absolutely worth. I prefer other CAD packages (Solidworks for its ergonomic GUI, or Creo, Catia, NX for the advanced surface features), but Inventor is definitely a serious CAD too.

I'm using 3ds max atm. I went to Inventor because i can use it for free with my student account.

The first approach with an associative and parametric CAD is not easy, but once you have a good base (as your concept is) and a good CAD model, the parametric features will help your "fine tuning".

There is a lot of truth in this statement.
I found that it is a very steep learning curve but once you get passed that, it is so much more rewarding and easier than non parametric modeling. My next car will be modelled in solidworks because I have it free from my university.
Also, if you run into trouble, google and YouTube are your best friends

Yes, my car has been designed that way in the cooling exhausts area, but I could not make it work perfectly.
I think that the heat exchangers of Audi are smaller or rotated, it would help very much.

Congratulation to Mateo for MVRC victory and AratzH for great win in last prestige race.
I want to say thanks Andre for saving this great challenge and Chris for his patient work.
Once again second place for me. Matteo simply did better job so I m glad for him.
I hope we will see next year.
