Well after seeing the results for the test race and not having the airflow to the cooling i have created a new car from scratch..
best of all it was in just 7 days....
I have not been able to get OCCFD to work mainly because I have just not had the time so all of it has been designed with minimal testing. For testing I have again used autocads flow design I first created to body and cooling testing the air flow around the car as i went along. after the body was complete for good measure threw on the rear wing from the car i used in the test race as it produced ok down force and then used the same profile scaled down for the front to hopefully keep it balanced. [-o< i have a feeling with the front wing i may have too much front down force.
I have not had chance to run any test with the wings on.
so here it is

It looks better than the previous one, well done.

Yeah, I like the look of it etsmc... my advice though is don't make too many big changes between races... otherwise you're starting from scratch again, whereas you want to be building on the knowledge gained from the last set of results... especially if (like me) you're not doing any (or very little) CFD testing between the official rounds....
For example: my car was down on power due to lack of cooling flow too, so I've opened up the front a little more to encourage air through rather than over the top of my car...

I am having problems with the stl size limit (20mb for the binary version). Using the standard quality of my software I obtain a total of 60mb and the geometry is meshed without issues by snappyhexmesh. When I use the stl export set up needed to limit the file size to 20mb, I get the "internal mesh issue" very often (half of the times).
Would it be possible to submit larger files or step format? It would help the legality check and the pre processing too.
PS: I tried with some stl cleaning tools, they sometimes work but to avoid the problem at its origin would be better. The issue takes origin when two patches (ex. body and inlet surface) should match on a closed edge loop but the closed edge are bad approximated by the two different stl.
PPS: I am confident about the quality of the stl geometry exported from the CAD package I am using.

Quite interesting front end on the Bykolles (previously "Lotus") LMP1 car...

Yeah they have bolted on a copy of the Audi nose on to last years front bulkhead. Its pretty wide where it meets unlike the Audi as it wasn't designed like that in the first place.
Noticed it whilst watching the 6hr Silverstone race and investigated it afterwards as it confused me when it was on screen for a split second and wasn't in the Audi colours.

Cool! (Actually looks a little like the T128 RicME85 and I were discussing above!)

Thanks. I thought I'd go for a more conventional approach, and learn along the way

Very good rendering, I hope your car will be fast. Wich is the name of your team?

Thanks! I hope so too

although I'm sure it's quote slow at the moment. I've not done any cfd on it yet due to time constraints, and I'm a novice when it comes to aero. This is gonna be a learning season for me.
My team is SHM Racing. I didn't have enoogh time to put it on the car

Presenting the Pure Power Racing PPR16/1. Since i couldn't fix the cooling issues on the old chassis i created a new one. She has a traditional approach on design thus she is more efficient overall. Lost around 1k downforce but the optimized cop and low drag gives almost the same time compared to the old chassis. And since there was some posts about mesh quality, i drasticly increased the poly count (old one had around 70k polys, new one has around 1 million).

I tried to make something like that last year, but it was nowhere near as good... The car looks very elegant too! ...let's see how it goes.
