Cosworth engine

While we have been focussing on all the teams i think the cosworth engine is missing the spot light somehow
i mean just look at the improvements and facts
Apparently it has around 910 BHP, which is an improvment of about 45 BHP over last seasons engine, and has been proven to be capable of running for 1800km, which is 200km in excess of Cosworth's own target of 1600km. Furthermore, the jump in horsepower has not come at the expense of engine reliability.
DC regards this engine as bullet-proof
what do you guys think? is it possible for red bull to atleast get one podium (like monaco i think)

You'd probably need a high rate of attrition for Red Bull to get them to the podium. I don't think they made significant steps in building this year's car, especially since last year's car didn't get any significant changes.

C'mon, DC thought he was just as good as Kimi and he also thought that he could beat Schumi. We both know that that was a total DREAM on his part. Let's see how "Bullet-Proof" he thinks his engine is after it blows up during the first race!
There's more to an engine than just peak power and reliability. The Torque curve, Centre of Gravity, Fuel Efficiency, size, weight etc. are all very important factors as well. Compared to everyone else, I feel Cosworth is not up to their standard.

ok i agree with you its just not brake horse power
Honda is not doing that well either i mean thier engine has not completed 1600 km without blowing up yet
but yeah red-bull/cosworth are not top contenders for this season for sure
I am hoping once minardi gets these engines they will be able to beat jordan-toyota atleast once.

I have a bit of an off-topic question about this Cossie.
On its
website Cosworth publishes a statement about its 2005-F1 engine program. It calls the engine 'Cosworth TJ2005' or more specific 'Cosworth TJ Series 10'. Last year's engines for Jaguar and Jordan are referred to as 'Cosworth TJ Series 8', while the badgename a year ago was 'Cosworth CR-6'. Likewise the 'Cosworth CR-3L' in the old Minardi is called 'Cosworth CK2004'.
I guess the TJ and CK designations are for Cosworth's internal use, project names as you will end the CR-.. stuff is a 'commercial' badgename by Ford/Jaguar. Am I right? Can anyone explain me about those designations? Is CK the 72-degrees V10 and TJ the 90-degrees? If the CR-6 was Series 8, what were Series 1 to 7? How many Series of the CK? Anybody...?

The new engine regulations for F1 have made things very interesting:
"85) Each driver may use no more than one engine for two consecutive Events. Should it become necessary for a driver to use another engine he will drop ten places on the starting grid at that Event and may not use
another engine until the end of the next Event. Any driver who failed to finish the race at the first of the two Events may start the second with a different engine without incurring a penalty.
However, should an engine change be carried out after the first qualifying practice session but before the race at either of the two Events, any drivers concerned will be required to start the relevant race from the back of the starting grid in accordance with Article 126.
After consultation with the relevant engine supplier the FIA will attach seals to each engine in order to ensure that no significant moving parts can be rebuilt or replaced. Following the first of the two Events further seals will be applied in order to ensure that the engine cannot be run until the second Event.
Other than the straightforward replacement of one engine unit with another, a change will also be deemed to have taken place if any of the FIA seals are damaged or removed from the original engine after it has been used for the first time."
The F1 engines must now survive both a qualifying session and a race distance. Designing a durable race engine is something Cosworth was always good at!

well idd... surprisingly for me too, RBR Cosworth is now the only team to have taken 2 double point finishes in the first two races
So rather powerful with a very decent chassis (as predicted even before Melbourne by Patrick Head) yet very reliable. Stunning, especially keeping in mind that this is an evolution of last year's Jag which got a total of 3 points over the complete 2004 season. A bloody good job!

LOL! Since 2000 I have been hoping for Jaguar to do well....they are sold off to Red Bull and NOW they start performing! Grrrr. Anyway, its nice to see. I really think the guys at JAGUAR deserve some credit. I mean the RB1 IS a Jaguar R6.....thru out the year it will develop with parts from Red Bull Racing's own design but the chassis is still what would have been the R6. Imagine if Ford had given Jaguar just one more year, do u think they would have still pulled the plug on their funding?
Either way, full credit to Jaguar AND Red Bull Racing, after all it is RBR who are running the car's this year. I like them...I like them a lot. Always have, and I think I always will. I'm also happy to see DC so upbeat. Pressure is no longer on his shoulders he can drive for fun (like schumi now does) And I think DC now realises ONE of the reasons schumi is so quick...driving with no pressure on ure shoulders is much easier. CK is also doing quite well...I think he will establish himself as a proper F1 driver if he keeps on getting gd results, he wont come and go like others (Justin Wilson, Giorgio Pantano, Zolt Baumgartner, Gianmaria Bruni). Keep up the gd work Christian.
This season: Podiums if they are lucky.....Pionts at 14 out of the 19 races this season I think...wins? Not this season.....maybe in two-three years time? You never know.
