F1 Ground Effect Sidepod idea?

After doing a bit of reading on ground effect and that area, I was wondering if it would be possible to make 'ground effect sidepods'. Please let me know, I'm not a techno-wizard and would just like to have a clear answer on would it produce more downforce than the coke bottle design. However, being a newbie at this I don't know how to get my 'car' from Microsoft paint into this. #-o

The floor of the side-pod must be flat and a great distance from the ground per the rules.

its not the floor which will change in height. Using STR's double floor undercut idea, there will be a height rise and then a decrease. Like this:

________

Would love to know how to get my car i've drawn in paint over into the thread.

Link to the video of my car idea. The sidepod raised up will help airflow under, then increasing the size underneath and then decreasing the exit size would accelerate airflow?

IMHO,You have to call that "floor effect" not ground effect. Yes at certain points you would create low pressure areas (along with unwanted high pressure points), however it would do nothing to create downforce as it would do nothing under the car's flat floor.

The sculpted side pods create a "shelf" area above the floor to prevent spilling of air under the floor area (prevention of higher pressure turbulent air pockets under the floor) AND to feed air to the diffuser. The shelf area increases DF by this reduction of spillage.

It wouldn't as effective as the coke bottle and undercut style since the beginning of time? I think I'll pipe down and stick to my paint skills

Speedsense, that sounds like a more plausible explanation than it actually making downforce itself.

I discussed this concept with one of my teachers in fluid dynamics at university a while ago, and since the floor and the sidepod can be viewed as parts of the same rigid body, all upwards and downwards forces created by the Venturi effect will equal themselves out.
