Has anyone drawn up a mockup on what the 2014 car will look like?

It would look the same as the cars today with radiator on one side and inter cooler on the other or a smaller radiator and intercooler on either side, or a Merc like double deck radiator.
The gear box will be longer so that turbo can located over it. Over all the plumbing will be the most challenging aspect because of the single turbo.
The F1 turbo will be located in the similar place as the Champcar ones but longitudinally

is it possible roll hoop designs will vary?, i dont know how much air is currently rammed..(if at all?) with the current air boxes. but as a turbo sucks in all the air it needs does it become a less critical area of the car? or even unnecessary? or will they stay much the same for internal aero/air for intercooling etc

I can see the roll hoop intake remaining even if the rules don't require the triangular side profile for advertising (haven't checked the 2014 bodywork rules to see). A periscope intake somewhere else will create drag / turbulence that is less easy to deal with.

I did do a mockup a while ago of the 2014 regs in CAD, I will hunt through my computer to find it

I would like to see that. I wish they would go back to a shorter wheelbase.

I think the location of the turbo exhaust is defined in the rules.
But wonder if the wastegate exhaust can be routed to any surface and be used to stall the aero element

Exhaust effects will be further diminished by the fact that anything that flows past the turbine will have a good chunk of it's energy absorbed by the turbine. I'm not saying effects will be eliminated but they will certainly be reduced. I think that removing the beam wing and lower nose will make the cars slower by about two seconds than this years.

Throttle control I'd imagine will be a lot more crucial in 2014. With peakier (I think?) power thanks to the turbo, and with less downforce.
I'm all for better car/throttle control, but I'm not crazy of laptimes going slower

Agree'd Ray....For far too long the FIA have gone year after year to reduce lap times.....sometimes with non-sensicle regulations. I'd like to see innovation back in F1 and performance differentiators, ie engines which may be developed throughout the season. That gives teams/engine manufactures the ability to level out the field with developements to their weak areas and others improving all in all making things spicier.

The resent WMSC ruling was for the same chassis/aero configuration as this year with a lower nose. Everything else is to remain same.

And still every designer they have interviewed so far is saying next years caars will be totally different, and not just cause the new engines.
