Hi guys!

After finishing my K113, I started yet another test car to polish my technique. So, I'll post some of that from time to time. Here are the first pictures:

The very first building block

Pedals are also there

After that i built the area around the cockpit. Having listened to Paul's advice, only bended sheets of paper were used.

You can see K113 in the background

Then I constructed the floor


The best I've ever done yet.

And I glued the cockpit to the floor:

+ added turning vanes

Next step: gearbox and rear crash structure

are you sure? the cockpit is 45mm, out of 165mm total length until now (car will be longer when finished). does anyone know what the relation cockpit-length is? if so, please post! thanks

I thought the pedals are too close. I could be wrong tho.

Update! I built the gearbox with the rear crash structure+ the beam wing.


note the holes for the rear suspension.

free time is all about time managing and prioritizing. I mostly build at weekends, because I prefer working with natural light (on weekdays, I can only build after it gets dark, because I have to go to school in the morning). But I'm sure you can find a couple of hours on weekends?

Yeah, weekends are good, but I'm sometimes busy on them too... ah well, now that there are no more grand prix to watch until march, that should free up some time.

i come back after dark from college too on weekdays, and I'm usually doing homework for the rest of the night which is a bit annoying to say the least

anyway, your car is a good start! I can't wait for the next update!

Hi guys! just wanted to inform you that the next update is comming tomorrow (or Monday). You'll see pictures of the completed sidepods, engine cover and exhausts (and of course the mounted gearbox) Stay tuned!

Sidepods
So guys, here is the promised update. Sidepods - the most difficult part of the car to build, in my opinion. Until now, I used to create a basic shape and cover it with papier-mâché. But Paul told me that: “Building the sidepods and engine cover just from cardboard isn’t easy, but once you’ve got the hang of it, it looks amazingly!” I decided to give it a go.
Here is what came out:


And now, let’s view the process step by step.
First, I started by gluing the gearbox to the chassis and adding a vertical support.


Then, two ribs and the borders of the pods on the floor were mounted:


After that I attached the two pieces of card which form the sidepods- one is the basic shape (which took me around six attempts to get right), the other is for the Ferrari-style exhaust.

Finally, the engine cover came to its place, followed by some putty to smoothen things up:


And (now with the exhausts and after applying some paint) here are some fancy photographs:
