graphite powder on wheels - f1 in schools

Would coating the wheels in graphite powder be a good idea on our f1 cars so as to reduce friction between the wheels and the track?
Thanks

But... why? You'd want *maximum* friction between the tires (not wheels) and the track.

What is the surface/track made of?

track is basically a melamine board

Well, if you want them to start rotating at once you must search for friction but perhaps a bit sliding instantly after the cartridge is activated could be better than forcing cartridge to start rotating wheels in order to move the vehicle forward.

Is there any specific rule as to the tire material? Basically, the softer, or spongier the material, the more rolling resistance. In land speed record cars, where traction isn't critical, but rolling resistance is important, they have them rock hard, some even made out of metal. I suggest a tire as hard as possible, maybe aluminum, or steel.
Also, do the rules require the wheels to roll flat on the surface? I would add radical camber, so as to have the wheel running just on the rim.

wheels need to run flat on the surface and are not allowed to have any camber. Most are made from plastic or metal. We have seen wheels that have a graphite permacoat on the web for pinewood derby cars.
Any thoughts and ideas on wheel design would be appeciated. Rules are min wheel width 15mm. Min wheel diameter = 26mm

So start by cutting holes all over the contact area.
