Toro Rosso STR9 Renault

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Good job they painted the err 'finger' blue, or we could have called it Goldmember

those sidepods may be just as or if not tighter than the rb7

I'm not sure the packaging is as tight as many are making out. The side pods certainly are small, but there's a very significant bulge higher up above the side pods that looks much larger than any engine bulge we've seen before. I think they may have moved a bunch of the cooling upwards in order to keep the flow around the side nice.

well, that's the first car of this year with a very unpleasantly looking nose. should've painted it gold imho.
could've done some livery to reduce it's presence. then again, maybe the're afraid it'll be called 'the golden willy'.

apart from that, pods look very sleek indeed, and as mentioned, there is a bulb present for the engine. does look
like it has a fluent design.

Is it my imagination, or does the nose level out to horizontal at the gold section, before sloping downwards again at the... erm, gentleman's area?

Oh my word.....I cannot believe my eyes.

This car, from the front wing backwards is beautiful. But it appears Larry Flynt has had a hand in designing that hideous appendage in front of the front wing.

If these are the laws, the law is an ass.

Kind of reminds of MP4-27 after it's mid-season nose-job... Without the extension, of course...
And they call it a stall. A STALL!

I think the livery around the nose is very bad. Painting the "upper" nose in the gold color makes the finger look like its been glued on. Very bad choice imo.

dunno how accurately to take this pic, but, from this angle, driver seems seated exceptionally high?

Yes.
A very interesting car. Look at that huge monkey seat, the twin intake airbox, the tiny sidepods etc

It looks like a dildo. Ruins an otherwise neat car.
