Did they build it - or just model it in 3d?

You can tell that is a real engine not a render .... It's damned sexy too!

The Race Engine Technology magazine where it is featured is really worth reading.

That image almost seems to imply dual intercoolers. I mean you could split the flow off of one intercooler but unequal length charge piping would be likely produce a slight loss in efficiency.

Then you're not very good at telling.

Just for the sake of keeping with actual data. Here are some charts from the Cosworth V8 and V6. Taken from the Race Engine Technology #72 and #73. (That magazine is really worth reading).

Power Curves comparison of the V8 and V6 (forecast):

P.S.: I'm Sorry for the crappy picture quality, I had to take a photo with my mobile phone and the paper is really shiny.

In your quotation the image links is inserted in url code. If you delete them and use img code instead the pictures will show. Now they don't.

The quote is from the 2014 intercooler trend: http://www.f1technical.net/forum/viewto ... 40#p478640

Here is the working quote:

I would suggest that in the 6-12krpm range its going to be making an awful lot less torque whereas the v6 is making about 300ftlbs.
Your calculations seem to be correct, power depends on the maximum fuel flow allowed for 2014.

But why do you compare the torque of the 2013 engine at 16-18k with the torque of the 2014 engine at 6-12k without multiplying with the gear ratio?

Why is the maximum power at ~11500 rpm and not 10500 rpm?
