Take a look into airbox intake of STR... Is that some sort of restrictor or what? Did they perhaps tested V8 engine in that chassis too?

I thought the engine deal they had was to run a restricted V10 so I would guess as you said it is most likely to be the restrictor The next thing in line is the air filter.

That is indeed the air restrictor as STR are running V10's this year.

But wasn't it said that RPM on V10 will be limited by some FIA electronic device?

FIA rules both rev restricted and air intake limited.

I reckon STR are secretly testing with a cossy V8 cause they know the V8's are going to be better

if you have an airrestrictor what do you need an rpm restrictor for anyway?

I think that air restrictor is necessary because even if the RPM are limited by special device that would still mean that V10 would be better in the mid range of RPM without restrictor. This would especially occur at slow circuits and slow corners where elasticity is important.

Manchild: You misunderstand the question, its the other way around.

Just one small sum here:
- This is an air restrictor
- this is the RB1
- it has an inlet the size for a normal V10
- they know V10 is their choice
- the team is still busy with their new car
My result:
that new car can be equipped with a very small air inlet, so a really narrow airbox and better airflow to the rear wing in the centre

What is?
I pointed out that if V10 engine had only rpm limmiter and no air restrictor than in rev range from idle to the revs rpm limmiter is supposed to block such V10 engine would outperform V8 because there would be no chage in engine menagemant compared with 2005.
If there was no air restrictor than for eaxmple at 14.000 rpm V10 in 2006 (with rev limmiter) would have same power and torque as V10 from 2005 (without rev limmiter).
