Ferrari 667 Speculation Thread

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Hence the thicker member.
Stiffnes wasn't an issue. :mrgreen:
F2008 also had integrated steering arms.

It's obviously inconclusive, and my installation stiffness theory is just that: a (possibly harebrained) theory. I've spelled out in more detail here if you're interested, though.

For a while back in the Schumi era the cars has an F then the year of creation in it, like F2002 and F2004, which was nice and simple, but since then it's been all over the shop (2008: F2008, 2009: F60, 2010: F10, 2011: 150° Italia, 2012: F2012, 2013: F138, 2014: F14 T, 2015: SF15-T)
Friendship with Honda ended, Renault is my new (and more reliable) friend.

-F60 (2009) because it was 60th Ferrari built for Formula 1;
-F10 (2010) I don't really know why they did drop the 20×× thing;
-F150°Italia (2011) because it was the 150th anniversary of Unity of Italy. At first it was just F150, but Ford complained because they have a pick-up with that name;
-F138 (2013) because it was the last mounting a V8 engine and 13 stands fore the year;
-F14-T (2014) was chosen by a poll. 14 cor the year and T for turbo. It oddly resembles FIAT (marketing?);
-SF15-T (2015) because they wanted to give a sense of detachement from the recent past, the beginning of something new. It stands for Scuderia Ferrari 2015 Turbo.

Agree. Wasn't one of the 2014 poll options more or less in that convention? I voted for that one.

There were F166 Turbo(second in the poll with 32% preferences vs 33% of F14-T), F14 Scuderia and F616

That close, were we. It seems to me like the unwashed masses enjoyed voting for F14-T only because "FIAT"...... but maybe that's just my distorted worldview.

Is it a smart move to change the philosopy of chassis geometry whit new front suspension and to change an PU construction philosopy to make it more compact, from a very good package that Ferrari has whit 2015 car?
It sounds to me that Ferrari will take another risk whit this like in the past...2009(bad)-2010(very good)-2011(disaster)-2012(if not for Alonso disaster again)-2013(solid)-2014(disaster)-2015(very good)
I understand the risk could pay off but knowing Ferrari it may well go in the other way.

Even if Mercedes would use the W06 next year, Ferrari would have to improve quite substantially to challenge for the WCC. Mercedes obviously won't stand still, they will develop their car.

Ferrari has no choice, they must make big gains over the winter. With Allison in charge of the technical team and with a turn-around in culture, hopefully they can be bold without losing touch of reality.

I reckon this is James Allison's 3rd year with Ferrari so fans will be expecting something special on the chasis and aero. I can humbly say that Ferrari will improve. A deficit of 250 points cannot be gained over just one winter alone but if they have worked through 2015 continuing from 2014 winter then definitely there is a fight on hand in 2016. I just hope that the HAAS partnership has worked with whatever Ferrari could take from HAAS resources.

I'm fairly sure they simply didn't want to the car to be 'the fist'

My opinion is that Ferrari will mount a serious challenge a la 1998 or 1997 but in the end will lose to the wire because the gap with Mercedes in 2015 was around .750 -.500 at best. So next year I believe it will go down to .250 - 0.
But if we add the Haas parameter in the equation maybe the gap can be bridged. You all know what I mean...
I am 99% sure that Ferrari went that road... exploited the loophole regarding haas team and gained additional data from the windtunnel work.
Let's wait and see.

i can honestly say i would not be surprised to see four 2016 Ferrari´s next year, two of the branded as HAAS cars.
Due to some weird regulation loop hole Ferrari managed to find.

It´s not impossible, i mean Mercedes went testing with a 2013 car and got out of it clean.
