Scuderia Ferrari SF16-H

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Are those new vanes to help pull air off the top and side of the car to send more back towards the side pods and rear diffusor?

Agree, driver have a choice of open or closed cockpit racing and know the risks of both. But it is what it is and kudos to Ferrari for trying!

But I would of thought with the materials and stuff F1 teams have developed, surely it can be a lot thinner? Even the Halo2 looks fat and chunky

In addition to the endplate changes, the front wing also has a different shape to the 'tunnel' area of the out wing. The new wing is on the bottom, and features a more open channel.

Since he retired from the last GP he can run a new one for the race.

The gearbox he was using on Friday was not his race gearbox.

Maybe they should've kept the ERS-K as a spacer...
Whatever the new design is it doesn't hold up.

That project looks like a mechanical failure. Roll on 2017.

Is that the old bodywork around the suspension or a update? Also, they are now using the Canada spec rear suspension correct? The two look different in the photo but it might just be due to the angle.
