Woo-hoo!

I didn't want to say anything until I knew that I had been accepted but last week I went for an interview with the National College for Motorsport which is part of the Tresham college in Silverstone and Corby. The interview was for a Race Technician course in year one with a view to a two year apprenticeship in years two and three. I very pleased to say (over the bloody moon actually!) that I've been accepted on the course and will be packing my bags for Silverstone come September! I considered going the engineers route and have been studying basic mechanical engineering and getting my maths up to scratch etc. but sitting in a classroom for 95% of the course isn't what I really want to do. I want to spanner on racing cars for a living. I love motorsport, I love tinkering with cars so Race Technician is the perfect career for me. I've been dying to chirp like a canary to you all for ages and now I finally can!! Hoping to be F1 Technical's first real insider but it might take a few years (five I'm told) :D

I wish to extend my sincere congratulations Scuderia_Russ.
It's a tough road to a great profession, many of us who wish we were in your shoes. But you have your foot in the door, and now you determine your own fate. Don't blow it, study hard, devote all your resources for the next few years, because they will pay off for the remainder of your life.
Way to go you lucky sod, I'm really happy for you.

British racing rules! It always had, it always will. What concerns me is your nick... Do you have to change it to "Team_Dennis"? :D

Don't I know it. Thanks for the replies guys, all of them. You can imagine how much this means to me. You see, we're simple folk here in Weymouth. I've worked some crappy jobs in my time, and have always admired the people that get paid to do something they enjoy doing. Finally I am going to be one of those people. It will make a nice change to get up in the morning and want to go to work! There has also been talk of getting some early work experience as a work based learner for a British Formula 3 team but I haven't heard anything more about that as of yet. Gonna try and get as much of my car finished as possible. I know I've been promising pics for a while but I haven't got around to it. Cheers.

If they took applications from United States citizens I would really consider doing so...
