Which would be your preference? CART or IRL....

Personally i pick CART cause of it's combination of road course and Ovals. IRL sucks

hehe same here, CART is quite a nice sport. Would be interesting however to see IRL's on a road course, maybe even competing with CART cars...

Actually there is and its called the INDY 500

And CART and IRL aren't that much of a different, cuz it was all IRL, some didn't like the way the IRL was working and decided to form CART with rules that suits them better.

And about the comparison, the INDY 500, I've watched it on tv and almost fell asleep. Better yet, I went to the Michigan Motorspeedway, there was this IRL race there, and it was soooooo boring, its basicly just this:
you sit there, and you see some cars going by, you watch them going, and you can see them almost all the time, which is cool in the beginning, but then after 10 mins it gets the same, unless a crash happens, but thats rare, and most of them suck, they just pull over, and after 30 mins, you cant even see where the cars are, cuz all the cars are like riding everywhere, this way you get the number 1 chasing the number 13 and between them number 5, and 28 with a 3 lap distance.

Anyway, INDY 500 is an event that isn't on the CART point system, but is on the IRL, so all the IRL teams race there. When CART cars were also allowed to the IND 500, the teams started adjusting their cars a litle bit for the INDY 500, and thats it, everything of CART and INDY is the same, just a different earodynamics package, but those still come from the same suppliers, and some of the engine restrictions are different, but thats no problem, just put on another nose for the ovals, screw on a turbo limiter, and you're set

Tomba meant that both IRL and CART cars race on a road track.
Then again any monkey can drive around left handed on one track so it doesnt take a genius to figure that out but then again YOU still are

Anyway, idd Speedtech that is about what I meant, put them all together on a road course, and see what happens, of course we should allow chassis to be altered a little for IRL, as these are not really created for such a thing.

How about power differences between the two series??

Well with power difference between the 2 series...mmmmm.... I would say that due to IRL drivers always being on the throttle 90% of the time then reliablity is a big issue....not to sure about power output. Then again one series has one engine manufacturer (FORD) while the other has several engine manufacturers.
Would be interesting to see the numbers. My personal opinion is that IRL is for any monkey to drive, no skills needed considering you only need to turn left and keep your foot on the throttle.

Jeez... you guys know very little about IRL. IRL has better drivers. Also, the are vastly different from CART cars, i.e. the engine package. CART uses a Turbo V-6 while IRL has a normally-aspiraited V-8. The difference is 100 more hp infavor of CART. CART has the quicker cars, but IRL has the better drivers. Furthermore, IRL has differnet auto makers, unlike CART, which only allows the Ford-Cosworth engine.

Can you explain to me how you came to the conclusion that IRL drivers are better than CART drivers? Now you have drivers who stay in one gear and only turn left with their foot on full throttle for about 90% of the race.
Tell me where the skills are in doing that?
You even stated that CART cars have got 100 HP more than IRL car, so if you think about it driving a car with more HP on a road course is harder than driving a less powered car round in circles.
Now with only one engine manufactuer in the CART series I would say all drivers are on an even playing field, so then it comes to the drivers proving themselves not the cars they are in!!!!!!

hmm well the situation is not that black-white I think.

They idd only have to turn left and keep the throttle open, but so do the rest on the circuit, so It's a matter of pushing as hard as you can through the two very long corners.
I find these oval races fun to watch, if I don't see them more than twice a year . Furthermore, I would not be interested to drive on such a circuit all year long, as firstly it's always the same, secondly, smashing in the wall could really hurt

Don't get me wrong I do like some oval racing, actually only NASCAR. Due to the fact that they do bump and grind their way to the finish line

Firstly, Cart and IRL cars are nothing alike. They have different aerodynamics and chassis. They have different engines. Plus they are designed to race on completely different tracks (even though Cart does race on some ovals).

Secondly, Open-Wheeled Oval racing is just as difficult as road and street racing. They each take an unbelevable amount of skill to master, they may take DIFFERENT skills but they are both equally challenging.

Thirdly, The Indy 500 is and always will be "The greatest spectale in racing". It may not take as much skill to win as it did in its first few runnings, but if you win the Indy 500 wou win the Indy 500 and you will always be remembered for it.

Fourthly, NASCAR (or as I call it NASCRAP) does fit your description of oval racing. the driver who runs into the most cars and wrecksthe most people wins.

Did anyone remember the Montoya/Gordon shootout with the FW24 and nascar racer a while back? I'd love to see a video on that. I heard Jeff Gordon got to within 1sec of Montoya's time in the FW24.

That guy's wasting his talents in there. Get him in F1, his panel-bashing skills will make quite a spectacle

Of course, it'd take realllllllly deep pockets... Jeff Gordon is the world's 2nd highest paid racing driver after MS. Please, Mr. Gordon, when you're done collecting your pension pay, please head over to Europe and kick butt.
