24hrs of Daytona

I followed my first IMSA race this weekend. The DPi class has 20 entrants. For fans of WEC, I recommend it. Alonso ran his first endurance race in a non-competitive car. He finished 30 something. The Cadillacs were tough all race long. Acura looked like they had a shot until car issues struck. A Ford GT won the GRT category.

Yeah I really enjoyed it too, my first IMSA race.

Was of course following the 23 United Autosport car for Alonso, but I'm most impressed with young Lando Norris... He had stunning pace in the rain overnight!

Didn´t watch it, but some spanish media pointed out about Norris awesome perfomance under the rain too, Vandoorne should be worried...

My first time too. Of course following the Acura, they were the only ones who could fight the Cadillac. Castroneves is very fast.
I share with you, Lando had a very good rhythm. It seemed to push the car in every turn

There were quite a few F1 and Indy drivers in the race. I always enjoy watching JPM race.

Considering the only challenge the Toyotas will have is themselves, he has a good chance at winning.

Thanks, thats really interesting.

Can't seem to get the average lap thing to work (to choose how many of their laps to take the average from), but these are the numbers for the #23 United Autosport boys:

Average Lap (from their top 20)

Fernando Alonso 1:38.63
Phil Hanson 1:39.52
Lando Norris 1:38.43

Best Lap

Fernando Alonso 1:38.15
Phil Hanson 1:39.17
Lando Norris 1:38.01

so Norris was faster than alonso over both a 20 fastest lap and single fastest lap? never mind vandoorne being worried, alonso should be worried!

Lando's fastest lap was only 0.01s off the best of the race too, really quite something.

Still early in the season. Once Mazda gets their new car sorted it will be giving the Cadillac and Acura a race.

Keep in mind who has partnered with Mazda to run their DPi team. Joest Racing has joined Mazda after Audi closed their program. Joest and Multimatic made huge changes to the car for 2018 effectively giving them a new car.

I am looking forward to going to Petite Le Mans this year.

Foley in the GTD class Merc is listed with a 1:40.842, 3.2 seconds faster than the best GTLM lap. 3.4 seconds off than the best LMP lap.

You guys should really watch some of the more junior series. After seeing the The Euro F3 season in 2017, its not much of a surprise what Lando can do. Watch out for him in the F2 this year. He's coming, I just hope Mclaren don't mess around and hold him back too long.

It looks like I'll be attending the race at Mid-Ohio in May. Anyone else in the states plan on attending?
