Force India VJM11

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Looking at ‘No of Laps (second to lowest) & Timing (which is not that critical at this stage but still…);
is FI struggling with this package?

The shape of sidepod cooling inlet and mirror mounting is same as RB13 except RB13 is more tighter around sidepod area, hopefully team will introduce tighter sidepod package.

Struggle is a definition tied around a certain Orange colored car and it's team.

The Pink Panther is just laying low and doing it's job. No issues, no breakdowns, just testing and in awful track conditions I might add, so they're just gathering data. Let's wait for Melbourne to see what the new upgrades are and hope the wind-tunnel correlation issue doesn't rear it's ugly head again.

The car incorporates many features from last year, but it is still looking more complete and refined.

Plus Ocon cracked 1:19.067 sec on "soft tyres", =P~ =P~ though the lap was not counted bcoz he cut the chicane, #-o but even after that he would have gained at max 0.2-0.3 sec, now looking at that time and the time set by the top three during the same period he topped the time sheet.

So Ocon did touched ~1:19.3 sec(0.2-0.3 added) while Lewis also cut the chicane and did 1:18.3 sec on "Unmarked Pirelli", so even if he was on medium then SFI is at max 1.5-1.6 sec slower than Mercedes, which looks good compared to 2017 season.

Here is something confusing for all of us, Ric & Ham were only clocking 1:18.0 to 1:18.4 sec with Ultra soft tyres on. Only 1.2-1.3 sec faster than Ocon on soft compound. :wtf: :wtf:

All in all, it is just testing lets just wait for Australian GP to start. =D> =D>

It's not confusing at all, it's testing. About the only decent indicator we get of pace is long runs when you know they have plenty of fuel on board, shy of a team putting in a blistering lap that's 2 seconds faster than anyone expects.

This stuff belongs in the testing thread anyway, it's nothing to do with the tech on the car.

If you look at Ocon's Instagram they were also the fastest in the speed trap by a huge margin so clearly suggesting a different set-up

It's a picture of the side profile detail before the new aero bits that'll arrive in Melbourne, so pretty much the same as the VJM10 except a few changes to the sidepods.
