But both Ferraris were .3 sec slower in s2.... so most probably they didn't run flat out as they were running lower wings
Vettel was flat through Pouhon in Q2 as well.

Both had the same tyre age.. and Vettel did several laps without a break whereas Lewis did an unintended cooling lap after a mistake in one of his previous laps.
Last time in Hungary, someone said Hamilton did the lap when track was better, while it was not and now you are saying tyres. The fact is, Vettel did the lap, when the track was getting better, than when Hamilton did. That was the reason why Foece Indias did well, because they were at the right point at right time. Yet, Vettel fell short.
Yea, so what's your point now? Do you want me to tell you a million'th time that Hamilton is the best driver in wet conditions so that you can feel better or get another million'th confirmation? :)
The point is, stop finding reasons to justify what happened.

And so,Bottas got no penalty for the incident in FP3?
No, he just got a warning.

Stewards have done a great and especially consistent job, as always. =D>

Hamilton was running more downforce and was always fastest through S2 and hence it was possible for him to go flat. But difficult to imagine Ferrari did that too as they had a different compromise that made them slower in S2.

The very best surely rise to the top in the wet. How I wish it would rain tomorrow!
Rain would add a lot of spice, especially with Kimi and both Red Bull's out of position because they ran out of fuel.

I guess a wet race would hand an easy win to Lewis though. Kimi and Vettel are rubbish in the rain (especially Kimi), while Max is great, but has a an aggressive dry setup. Ricciardo is average in the wet, but has the same aggressive dry setup as Max.
Why were both Ferrari drivers garbabe in the rain?
Kimi is always overly tentative in wet conditions. As for Vettel, he was on fresher tyres than Lewis and on the track at the most optimum point to get pole, but still lost by almost a second to Lewis ... A second.
Lets all just act like the more downforce that Mercedes is running doesnt matter in the wet... lets all act like Mercedes being faster in the middle secotor is not an indication of this....look at the rear wings on the Ferrari and the Mercedes for a crystal clear indication of who is running more downforce.
The Minute it started raining red bull was screwed running that Monza rear wing and i also knew ferrari was not going to be on pole in the wet running the rear wing they are....

Others couldn't do another lap because their teams did a mistake and so on. Like I said, pure chaos.
Vettel did not do an extra lap compared to Lewis.
?? vettel was the guy who passed the line the last if I am not wrong. At least after Lewis. He had the same chance. that is why he closed the gap to .7 seconds from 3 seconds.

How does that imply Vettel doing more laps? He just finished his last lap later than Lewis. Vettel stayed longer in the pit due to tire confusion.

Hamilton did a total of 19 laps in quali and Vettel did 18 laps.

Then I might have confused it with another corner or another driver. I'm not even sure if it was Q2 anymore.

How many did either of them do in Q3? 3 each. Lewis made an error in the penultimate lap and had to get the last one right, which he did. Vettel ran late and had the better conditions for his final lap.

It was mentioned on Sky that Ferrari were flat out tbf.

Easy to check

Vettel drops to 290 on the apex, which is just 1 kmh less than hamilton. This could potentially mean he's flat, since he's got a bit less entry speed than hamilton (306 vs 309 kmh)

(https://streamable.com/kwer9 - open link if quality too bad in embedded stream)

However, if you look at his onboard in the f1tv you can quite clearly hear a lift. Stream is a classic f1tv mess, but for this purpose it's good enough.

From what i've seen troughout the weeked so far hamilton (and even bottas sometimes) were clearly better in the middle sector, while ferrari was clearly better in S1 and S3.
It was also obvious from watching all the onboard that hamilton was always the fastest trough pouhon in particular, followed by vettel and raikkonen. Bottas was slower even than the ferraris.

One other thing, this year red bull was slower than last year trough that corner for obvious reasons. Last year verstappen managed ~288 on the apex, this year only around 280.
