Mercedes-AMG F1 W10 EQ Power+

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Isn't there any photo of the back of the Mercedes taken on this "promo day"? I wonder where they put their wastegates (same for the RB).

In the Sky video, the presenter mentioned that they were not allowed to film or photograph the back of the car.

Interesting.

the 3 caps on top of the halo are interesting, I wonder what they are for.

Edit:
The mirror actually look usable this year!

They are halo attachment points. They were also present last year, but this color really makes them pop. All teams have them

ahh, ok

I assumed they attached just like they did on the test rig, by that I mean a single horizontal pin.

Maybe it's the for bodywork the teams attach to the halo. I could be mistaken though

What is this noise right after he releases throttle after accelerating? For example at 0:24 and 1:24. Is it really the turbo dump?

And what's this steam engine like noise after 0:40 for like 7 seconds?

It looks like the front push rod connection is pushed out from the hub
Yes! I think you're on to something here... I've noticed that too this morning but i could just come here on the forum quite lately to see if anyone else have picked it up too. It took me a while to find your tiny post ahaha!

Here you go, with a pic highlighting what we both came up to think...

I heard it too, like a release of gas when it changes gear.

Can't find a single photo of the diffuser area. Is Merc wanting to keep a tight wrap on that?

Have seen a few rear shots of the RB15 from its on-track excursion. Zero for the W10, though.

Looks no different than last year to be honest, and all reports suggest there were no changes to the front suspension, just the rear

Thx for searching with me ;). I didn't find anything either. You can't see the wastgates on photo's taken from the side or from the front. As we are all talking about whats visible, the rear seems to stay the most important of those cars, as they are clearly hiding this (again). Also, i find it pretty strange or better ridiculous on a so called "promo day" that they may not take photo's of certain parts of the car. A promo day should be open and public.

I'm sorry, i have to disagree.

Something has definitely changed in the area where the push rod connects with the hub. My guess is there's an additional external pivot like for the upper wishbone. I might be wrong, but you can't say it looks no different, just compare the W09 and W10 pics... i think it should be better to check this part of the car deeper next week rather than overlook it.

On the picture taken from the side it seems that the halo features a small wing in its center section to create downwash. Perhaps to feed the intake, as it is slightly "blocked" from the HALO

https://www.racefans.net/wp-content/upl ... /02/b1.jpg
The bit that looks like a wing underneath appears to actually be a driver-facing camera location. It's easily visible on the Hamilton onboard video.
