A lot of the McLaren inspirations look to push forward, the speedtail, whatever success the F1, but this McLaren inspired beast looks back to the CanAm days and it's here and you can drive it daily and you can probably do a tuneup and change the brakes on it yourself in your own garage over the weekend.

been to the site ,Nichols-cars.com, and they don't list a price. Plus built in England requires shipping and probably huge problems licensing.

I'd be surprised if you got change from $80-100k, to be honest, by the time it was sat on your driveway. I doubt they'll be selling them cheaply for a start - I bet they'll be £50k at least.

I doubt the company will be making US-compliant versions - unless there's huge demand of course. Can you do personal imports of "specials" or does every vehicle have to meet US standards?

Well, at a price, an enterprising custom effort might be transforming the new,
(& fully compliant) C8 Corvette into a slightly later McLaren CANAM type, perhaps?



(A bit like the 'Miami Vice Ferrari Daytona Spider' replicas were 'Vette-based too, back in the day).

Part of the attraction - dare I say a large part - of the Nicholls car is that it isn't just a repro / custom job. It's being designed, engineered and built by ex-McLaren people.

C'mon now, its 'inspired by' an early McLaren sportscar, but its still a 'replica' for the 'well-heeled',
even if not a mega-buck 'continuation' effort like the AM-Zagato DB4 GT & 'Lightweight' E-types..

I'd say it's the difference between a continuation Cobra from Shelby and a kit car from Backdraft or Superformace.

Sure, but unlike other replicas etc., this one is designed by the designer of the most successful F1 car ever, which also happened to be a McLaren.

This is not a car shop replica.

The Cobra is built by the Cobra team with Shelby's blessing and that Corvette shown above is basically a kit car body on a Vette's underpinnings.
