Just, wow! It's the same car in a different paint job!

The nose, the front wing, the front suspension mounting points to the chassis, the sidepod intakes, the roll hoop, the engine cover, the rear wing... it is a direct copy!

Mercedes is doing the exact same thing with RP that Ferrari did all this time with Haas. I bet the main teams get benefits doing that such as getting extra CFD, wind tunnel time through some grey area in the regulations, or through some synergy such as investigating an aero part on the midfield team car for the main team car.

Sidepod shape and sidepod inlet are noticeably different.

some....

looks like RP bought as much as is allowed from Mercedes, just like HAAS does with Ferrari. Even RedBull has the decency the last couple of years to at least have a go at some design elements to make the cars different.

Front and rear suspension are definitely Mercedes, together with the uprights. Gearbox of course (ever since 2010 I believe).

There are some small detail differences such as the radius of the sidepod inlets and other bits that look like RP copied the design from photos.

Here's what their technical director, Andy Green, said about the car
Andy Green wrote:“For 2020, we designed the car from scratch, starting from almost a blank sheet of paper – which is very exciting, because the team hasn’t been in a position to do this in a very long time.

“We’ve applied everything that we’ve learnt over the past seasons, combined this with what we’ve seen adopted by some of our competitors, and we’ve given it our best shot at optimising the final season of these present regulations.”

Differences in painted/unpainted areas account for most of the difference I think...

The RP20 airbox has a wider V shape for the roll hoop, and while the front of the sidepod inlets are almost identical the W10 has a pronounced cutout behind the shoulder of the sidepods where the RP20 is a smoother more conventional shape (will see that in side image not these pics).

Aside from that the cars are almost identical, even very small details are copied 1:1

This is not bad either. The nose is definetly 2020 spec as is the rear end treatment. Some of these mid field teams look to have bought a lot of performance in their new cars.

I've not seen more copying than this one. The only difference I can spot is the slightly different (slimmer) sidepod inlet.
