Edit:So I guess you mean exactly 5 minutes? Not off to a good start, with the "a very low energy dense gas can, be extracted from a very high energy dense gas" sentence. The two are the highest energy density gases (which is good), and hydrogen is the higher...

Well, rabbit as verb only meant run away to me. And even that I barely heard used. (probably first time was in the Avengers movie. :) ) So it took some effort to figure.
To me it's more annoying that he does voices, and says nonsensical things, like the sentence I quoted. :)


As for natural gas reforming. I wonder if anyone actually thought it was clean. I think it's definitely a huge waste to convert to CO2, compared to using it methane directly.

Yes and it doesn't sound like they intend to do anything to reduce the weight of the ICE in line with its reduced power output.

All true but it kinda misses the whole point. The hybrid system provides a two-way storage capability.

If you could build a system where - on application of the brakes, the exhaust gases were converted back to fuel and returned to the tank, you wouldn't need the hybrid system.

Although on a circuit racer, it's hard to beat converting braking forces into heat. Friction brakes (10kg?) plus fuel not saved (50kg?) will be lighter than the additional motor and battery. Off throttle fuel savings, if so needed, could be resolved with a stop start system, clutches, engine braking without fuel, etc. We could even reduce brake particulates with a jake brake. And reduced tire particulates from running a lighter car.

Makes me think there must be engineers out there that scoff at the idea of braking through a flexible driveshaft, at this echelon of motorsport. The solution less appealing still: hub motors.
