I'm in disbelief, to be honest. It's like they asked me to write a wish list on what I always thought a Ferrari F1 car should look like and then pretty much made all of that come true in a single year-to-year change.

It seems they even got rid of the aerodynamic matte sex-toy paint. :shock:

Interesting isn't it ?

AMR had the length and louvers over the top but they also had a HUGE undercut. McLaren had the blockage at the front but the sidepods were short lived. I think Williams also went a similar route as McLaren.

The 2014 Caterham had sidepods like that, but I don't think that's a car any team would like to compare to :P

I would guess that channel is used to get clean air towards the diffuser, with the front part of the sidepods being used to manage the wake.

The sidepods, with that curl at the top and the warm air slots to the inside, wonder whether that creates a bit of a vortex to get air to the rear wing.

Actually now that I am looking a bit more into it, this seems like a reverse AM.

They are using an overcut to get clean air to the diffuser while using the sidepods as a shield against the wake.

Unique concept this one.

Often, ideas 180 degrees apart from each other are within 1-2% of each other in effectiveness. I call it the Non- Mirror Reverse.

Indeed. You can push the wake sideways with a blunt sidepod, but if you taper the sidepod back from the side rather than from the top, you'll be pulling that wake back in rather than getting the high energy air from above the sidepod down onto the diffuser. This is where I believe the Williams, McLaren, Alpha Tauri, and Haas seem to have an advantage, assuming they executed on the concept well.

The mirrors don't appear to be any different than on the Aston or Williams, at least the mounting or positioning ...

It's just the deflector on the FL wheel, grainy low quality pic makes it look weird.

The more I look at it, the more I think it has to be fake.
Maybe this comes from the same person who did renders like shown in this post:
