It looked pretty nasty when he went out in T9… A shame, because this session was important to understand the new parts :(

I can't say I like what I see so far.

Still haven't seen them stretch their legs. Lost the ability to push and make overnight tweaks though, so very much on the backfoot for the rest of the weekend unfortunately.

On the positive side, this is probably the one track they know the most… Hopefully they have enough data to get a solid base for FP3 and then make final adjustments towards Qualifying.

Are you telling me that they haven't shown anything yet? Can we expect let's say 1.5 second improvement over what we saw?

I hope it's just practise and the team makes me eat my words but I am not having positive vibes from the large update.

True, but I suspect they'd want more data specific to the new package.

Not from Lando's side. If the package is indeed 0.5s faster as the team predicted, I would put him in around P8. Other's have also made decent steps, so the measuring stick has simply just shifted along. Seen nothing to suggest it's the big leap we've all been hoping for.

Still lots to work on and tomorrow is where will really know, but so far it doesn’t look the big step we wanted does it.

Car just doesn’t look as responsive as a Ferrari or Red Bull- in fact I think it looks a bit cumbersome at times to my eye.

With the large number of changes, setup direction maybe be a bit different than before.

I agree. Surprised the team didn't swap Daniel's car over to the new spec between sessions. Could be a busy session tomorrow for both drivers chasing an optimal setup. As I said before, hopefully there is enough data to pull together to allow the guys on the simulator a chance to do some overnight homework.

Also worth remembering that the McLaren car is not a fan of hot temperatures, and we havent been very good at Barcelona in the past

Reading the practice report, the team sounds positive about their pace, despite the issues and lost time… Let’s hope we have a good qualifying tomorrow!

Perhaps the team will show their real speed tomorrow? I hope?

Very true. I wonder if they were concerned about damage and wanted to preserve the parts? Do they have spares of the new parts or will one driver miss out tomorrow?

They have a package ready for Daniel (if they decide to use it)… Lando’s floor damage will be repaired tonight
