Interesting that they have chosen to launch all of them on the same date… They could have build hyped with every launch individually.

The date is now on my calendar!

I would expect them to have a filming day at Silverstone on the 12th then, and potentially another a week or so later

I see where you're coming from, but now this day will basically be McLaren Day and they can saturate social media with posts and not get drowned out by other team launches after their's.
Favourite driver: Lando Norris
Favourite team: McLaren

Turned down the chance to meet Vettel at Silverstone in 2007. He was a test driver at the time and I didn't think it was worth queuing!! 🤦🏻‍♂️

I am fairly confident 2021 would have been a major step in this chart if we had the Lando-Carlos duo.

Daniel's issues with the car definitely hurt the point tally a bit.

Let's just hope the team maintains the trend in 2022. With a better Daniel (just him being himself really), we have a "free" boost to gain.

If the car is closer to the top, I have no doubt the drivers will maximize everything. Lando as well is a very mature driver at this point. After last year's performance, I think he has proven himself to be "one of the good ones" (to say the least).

let the livery speculation begin? Is the pale "Gulf" blue tips of the hoodie drawstring (twitter merch teaser pic) a sign that the blue might be more of a Gulf baby blue this year?

We are still waiting for the new wind tunnel… The following video from William Toet in 2014 discussing all that went into the Sauber Wind Tunnel (as well as very interesting information on how it’s used) may help understand why it is taking as long as it is… I wonder what technologies McLaren will be able to add / improve on theirs:

That article and Zak refer only to partnerships and engine entries for 2026 onwards. Seems to dilute the ideas of a takeover for me.

A takeover isn't necessarily a bad thing. Volkswagen doesn't merge the brands they obtain, so even if they buy McLaren, they would still be operating as a separate entity. Just under the "leadership" of volkswagen.

I personally see it as extra funding. But I must admit, for me a cooperation deal with Audi would be better. That way McLaren remains independent, but they also become a works team together with Audi supplying the power units.

The thing with being owned by a big automaker is you can have your racing program killed at any time. Porsche and Audi are the 2 most successful le mans car makers of all time, guess who isn’t in top level LMP competition ATM?

I’d hate for that to happen to Maclaren!

I don’t object to getting VAG investment, as long as it’s not a controlling stake.
