What do you mean by :-| ?

Unwanted toys: Ferrari often had poor strategy and the Mercedes car suffered from porpoising. RBR did not suffer from either.
That's why it says the drivers didn't have that on their wish list. What's not good about that?

REVEALED: The F1 team bosses choose their top 10 drivers of 2022

Formula 1’s team principals have voted Max Verstappen as their number one driver of the year for the second successive season in our annual poll, following the Red Bull driver’s successful defence of his title.

We asked all 10 team bosses to submit their list of the top 10 drivers of the year, under the proviso that their individual ranking would remain secret.

Drivers were given scores based on the current F1 points system – 25 for the top driver down to one for 10th. Those scores were then combined to create a ranking.

Had no idea Max scored so well in 2016. In hindsight, he used to give Rosberg so much trouble. I remember Canada....

I think he was the only one who who managed to overtake a merc on track that year.

But unlike Rosberg and Hamilton he could afford to make a mistakes and take risks, so I am not sure whether it is such a fair comparison.

From 'Mad Max' to a double champion: Verstappen's 2022 spells danger for rivals

From the 17-year-old debutant, to the 18-year-old winner, to his more inconsistent and rage-filled 2017 and 2018 seasons when he was known as 'Mad Max', Verstappen has evolved, and then some.
"He's a once-in-a-generation talent, like Lewis, like Sebastian, like Michael, like Senna," said Sky Sports F1's Karun Chandhok.

A nice article from Sky for a change. Normally would be looking for any excuse to tear him apart on something.

Max is the best driver in F1 at the moment.

It’s a pity he hasn’t had a quality team mate to go up against, to prove that

Not sure what a team mate has to do with it to be honest, granted there are another 19 other drivers on the track to compete against.

I mean, when we see him in equally machinery, going head-to-head with a Leclerc, a Russel, or a Norris, we’ll see how exceptional Max’s talent really is

For now, we just know he’s a top tier driver, in the right place at the right time, like the other exceptional talents that came before him

If you mean in the same team, that rarely ever happens in F1. And if it happens there are always further excuses like driver A got preferencial treatment over driver B.

I'd say the W13 and RB16B and the F1-75 and RB18 have been close enough to give a good comparison. Verstappen has done well against Hamilton and Leclerc who both also are exceptional drivers.

The very fact that all the team principals combined have rated Verstappen top 2 over the last 7 years should say something about his performance and abilities.

Also the combined opinion of the Racefans.net members rate him the best of 2021 and 2022, having previously voted Hamilton serveral years in a row which I also think is fair. A collective opinion of a large group of reasonably knowledgeable most often nears the ultimate truth.

Its not up to Verstappen to prove he is exceptional and belongs in the list of great champions. He's already proven that. Its up to Russel, Leclerc and Norris to prove that they belong there too.

Unless you get all the drivers into F2 where the machinery is 'equal' then your never going to see who's best. Then you would get the arguments of X driver is 2years older than the other or 10 years older.
