How is the leadership of this team still in place? They have underperformed with so many advantages, it is obvious that a change is needed!
Think their budget is smaller that the two teams they are ahead of in the constructors.

AFAIK they have the smallest budget in the field, least personnel, and if Alfa Romeo is to be believed, buying parts might not be the most cost-effective route, even though it saves time and personnel. I’m guessing most of their development budget was lost from Mazepin, and Gene has contributed enough to keep the team afloat but not fully replace the contribution of the outgoing sponsor.

Next year they should be at the cap (meaning they will outspend Williams, and possibly AT/Alfa as well) with their new sponsorship. Excuses will be much harder to come by…

The 23' car is designed now. The sponsorship won't make them competitive right outta box, maybe not even until 24'.

The 22 car was pretty good from the start, what let them down in the later part of the season was their upgrade budget. Maybe they will be more competitive throughout all of next season with the new sponsor

Great news, i think they needed a more stable driver, and Hulkenberg has been matching or beating everyone he has driven with as replacement driver

You’re right, it won’t have a lot of impact on the initial design of the ‘23 car, but what it will do is allow them to have more than 1 upgrade. 2022 proved that the team can design a decent car despite having little to no development for a year. Who knows where they could have finished this years championship if they could bring upgrades at the rate, say, Alpine did. Could’ve even been top 5, or at least p6.

I'm happy for Hulkenberg. Always a pleasant guy on the track. No controversy.

It seems Haas have done the 'young upcoming (high paying) driver bit and are trying the established high repute driver route.

Happy for Hulk.

But considering how much patience Steiner had for Grosjean (and his 4 years of car destructions in ever imaginable scenario), it’s really harsh to not give Mick another chance. German showed progress this year and is basically matching performance of a much more experienced driver - K. Mag was always regarded as a fast driver.

To be honest, I’m amazed that the team have gone for Nico, he has never set the world alight….
Surely a better bet is to take the Ferrari dollar and split the second seat between Fitipaldi & Schwartzman?

Maybe they see it a a 'calibration year' where they hope for a clean run with two drivers who hopefully will keep the repair bills down and give good feedback and get into the points soon, so they have a stable base and pan how to push on with a young driver.

They must have spent most of their development money just keeping the car drivable this year.

Nico, through many sources, is an engineer’s dream.

They need drivers to help develop the car.

Haas ends the year just as it began. With horrid reliability. #-o
