Alpine A522

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Interesting that it runs fairly large sidepods with a big airbox.
Not just the airbox, but the entire centre section is quite fat. Also the first car to have 2 different rows of gills. It seems they'll be venting some of the sidepod air straight out the top without it actually cooling anything.

Think I prefer the pink livery. They're both very nice. We'll see what the car really looks like tomorrow.

The pink looks better in the renders I agree

I am not convinced that this is the real car. Looks too vanilla with a couple of details here and there. Even the details are too generic, perfectly aligned, regular, rectangular gills?

I would rather risk opening too late than too early.

So let's see that shakedown first.

(Unless other mods dissagree).

It does seem very vanilla to me too. Am I by the way the only person getting Williams 2021 packaging vibes?

How is that not-a-bardgeboard legal
There literally a legality box that these are designed to go within. Some teams just choose not to have them to max legality to reduce blockage and wake latching

what they showed doesn't even match what Rosi said about better packaging

No; I see where you’re coming from with a pretty clear division between the ramp sidepods and the central portion of the engine cover.

I think this is only slightly more detail we got from the original Haas pics and as we saw today their real car is very different. We won’t have to wait long. Hopefully less camera-shy than Red Bull and AlphaTauri…

I also hope that is not the real car. It gives me real midfielder vibes. Nothing in common with any of the other cars. What's with all that cooling?

Needless to say that the monocoque, rear bulkhead here, is COMPLETELY different from the RS.18-19-20-A521 sisters, due to the split turbo and different cooling system...

How can you know by only looking at some renders?
