A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Really surprised at how little extra cooling the car needs… Very impressive when one compares it to the rest of the field in terms of louvres (size and amount of them)

Wouldn't say it is smaller though. In a top view of the car the cannon exit is the largest on the grid.

I agree, its just a different concept for achieving the same output.

Found this picture on Reddit, nice detail on the McLaren front wing with measurements on the front wing adjuster:

Titanium seem to be the preferred material for these parts.

The race are reporting new sidepods

▪️ Sidepod shoulder louvres

is probably why The-Race says sidepods.
No, the race listed sidepods and sidepod louvres separately. The article is from the show and tell list. Clearly the list is already going the way a lot of us expected! Pretty useless!

I am no aerodyaniscist but are they using the coanda effect to wrap that high pressure air from the t-tray channel around the bluff side pods rather than going for a conventional undercut?

Exactly what they’re doing. Coincides with a cut in the floor too to create a vortex
