Finally got a car together and submitted an entry. Could not get CFD done, so I am hoping I didn't get it too wrong.

I heavily considered a 'eggplant' nose, just couldn't bring myself to do it

Done a bit more testing and I'm very confused now. If I run the wheels and mandatory parts separately, I get all samples in post. Same for my cars files. But once I combine them and do a run, the post processing stuff that generates the VTKs crashes and fails.

Not expecting miracles but if anyone has any idea on things to try I'm all ears. I'm going to try a run with mflow 'd' version as a hail mary in case some config change in 'e' is interfering with openfoam some how but it's a wild stab in the dark
When you load a case which contains all files, do you see everything in MFlow? You might face an issue once mentioned here, that the files might not be in the same scale (some km long, others only mm?).
Yeah everything is there. As I say I've run 2 separate cases (mandatory parts and my parts) that both generate the full VTK suite, but when combined break for some reason.

It outputs the all numbers correctly, but something about visualisation seems to be broken.

My plan is to start with the mandatory files and add my bodywork in piece by piece until it stops generating everything. From there I should hopefully be able to fix it [-o<
Do all of your parts intersect fully with the mandatory parts? ie. No face to face surfaces, very acute angles, etc. that might cause a meshing issue.

The ol' Caterham nose. Nice.

Thank you for the compliment.

Looking sexy! And that's my favorite sidepod configuration.

But, since you haven't run CFDs, i'm concerned about your:
- Cooling. Your cooling exhaust might be way too small. I had big issues myself with that.
- Balance. That's a very small rear wing compared to the front wing...
- Wheel deflectors effectiveness. They created more harm than good in my simulations (7.5% downforce drop). I think they need a lot of optimization to work (or a lot of luck getting them right the first time).
My cooling is based on the previous generation cars, similar sized inlet, outlet, and radiator size, so I hope that will be enough.

What a car! The nose seems to be designed to orient the flow and reduce the effects of upwash on cooling.

Yeah that was my initial intent to cope the horrible upwash i was getting from the front suspension. It helped somewhat but not enough to get rid of that big sidepod with holes.

Oh, I totally missed out on the fact that it is a Talno design. That explains the creativity. I guess we cannot expect it to look like this for the next race, independent if I change the rules...

Kind of related, my RW planes were mirrored down the centre and that was causing it all to break!

Good that you figured it out.
I do not quite understand it though. There was a small gap to the symmetry plane and the simulations crashed?

Nope no gap, but the stl mesh was a bit funky around where it mirrored in the centre. That's all I can imagine it was. But it doesn't make much sense. Especially considering most of the car is made up of mirrored parts

Another sexy car!
The front reminds me of the BMW-Sauber from 2008 (not just for the nostrils  ), which is one of my all-time favorite.
I guess i'll wait for the official images to see better what's going on with the cooling exhaust.

F1.08 is also one of my all time favorites, just behind Williams BMW Fw25. Its just 2 extra holes on sidepods nothing special

I imagine by now a lot of you have found this:

Unfortunately this new "official" version has lost a good chunk of performance from what I had in that post. Very curious to see how it stacks up against you all!
