The last 2 race weekends were super exciting on Saturday with a very exciting FP3 and an even more exciting qualifying.
Next Saturday, the FP in the morning will be completely redundant and boring and in the afternoon there will be a sprint race
for half an hour, which determines the starting position of the grid.
That order is therefore not determined by who the fastest drivers are.

Normal qualifying will now be held on Friday afternoon, but that is not important, because the fastest driver is not allowed
to start first on Sunday. This setup is worthless.
Moreover, everyone only has an hour to find the right setups. If not, the whole weekend has been messed up.
The entire sprint race weekend can be abolished for me.
100% agree. By all means have sprint races, but not immediately before a 'real' race, and don't include the points at year end. If they feel there is not enough entertainment, allow guest drivers or reserve drivers to have a Saturday race.
Just ditch it, I still really don't like it at all. It's like a second chance for everyone in fast cars that messed up during qualifying.
I like it on Friday when qualifying happens sooner :D the sprint races themselves are generally a bit meh. Imola was an alright race tbh but I think most of the time the lack of strategy means you’re only likely to see action if someone’s out of position - otherwise it’s just lining them up in pace order and being shocked when a slower car doesn’t overtake a faster one.

If a faster car is out of position for race, it just gets by with a DRS move while that driver's competitor who had a straight forward qualifying, is cruising at the front without a fight. Is there really any fun in watching that? Do you want to watch Leclerc DRSing through the pack while Verstappen is cruising ahead?

At least a sprint weekend provides more competitive bursts than 3 free practices where mostly, teams run only half the time and as an audience, you just sit watching the cars doing their own thing. Even if cars line up on the basis of their competency, there is going to be a fight if not overtakes. There are strategic punches that can get the audience excited.

Is that the Merc wing end plate got flow-vis on?

I enjoy the sprint races for the simple fact that they are replacing an open practice session with a competitive race. And a race is much more enjoyable than a practice session to me.

In fact I'd prefer -
Friday - AM Practice, PM sprint qualy
Saturday - AM Sprint Race, PM race qualy
Sunday - Race
Freeze setup changes after race qualy.

Are Ferrari bringing a new wing, or are the first 3 just missing a cap?

EDIT: Nevermind, after looking again, I notice the top "Santander logo" piece is just not attached yet.

Merc top and bottom wings are different - higher and lower downforce items.
If you are more fortunate than others, build a larger table not a taller fence.

You don't need race qualy

This would be a good format. It also allows recovery if something goes wrong in the sprint race, right now I get the feeling the drivers at the sharp end are a bit circumspect as going off in the sprint means starting at the back on Sunday.

Bit of a oddball one.

Does anyone have any views from the Red Bull grandstand in sections J/K? Hard to find any reliable info online

It looks like RB18 is able to run some of the biggest rear wings in the field and still be at the top of the top speed ratings.
