The #BelgianGP trophy, a true beauty:

With the shape of the circuit
Made of wood that grows in the vicinity of the circuit.
Inside it has Eau Rouge water
And asphalt residues from Raidillon

Hopefully it won't be the last to be delivered!! 😒

so they ripped a page from the 2014 Austrian GP... :?

What do you mean? You mean after 2014 I assume. The Austrian trophy is much simpler.

Saturday looking very wet now, but it’s only Wednesday. Hope the new tarmac has cured properly…

Interesting little video showing how Eau Rouge / Raidillon has changed from the late 1980s to 2020. Most of the changes were early on in that period, of course, as the barriers were pushed back from Eau Rouge in 1994 and then a bit later at Raidillon where the barrier was pushed back massively resulting in the large area of tarmac that drivers try to "borrow" to make the corner faster. Back when the barrier projected right up to the apex at the top of the hill, the corner was much more demanding and doubtless earned it's reputation back then - today it's very much a "chuck it in and it'll go" type corner such are the grip levels of modern cars - in the dry, at least.

Interesting to hear Mansell flat in 1992, Prost taking a lift in 1993. The FW15C was quicker than the FW14B and perhaps arrived at the complex with a higher top speed. Or Mansell was just totally bonkers. Both are likely.

If you are more fortunate than others, build a larger table not a taller fence.

T1 will be interesting now with the gravel… How many cars will end up “beached” after the start?

Funnily enough, I recall that Ferrari had bad weekends when they celebrated something with a special livery!

I think McLaren at Monaco 2021 is the only time a one-off livery has delivered any particular success in recent years!

Drivers will want to be on the inside going through La Source - anyone on the outside is at risk of being pushed in to that gravel, especially on the first lap.

Now, I don't understand this. All the corners that needed fixing(not in spa, but other tracks), they fixed one that didn't need fixing. IMO going wide there wasn't advantageous, but you don't pay heavy penalty for going there.
During the race, this is fine. But on lap 1, I think it will unnecessary punish some drivers.

There’s a tweet in there somewhere from when Mercedes tried to troll RB when they ran their special livery.

They’ll all try to stay on the track instead of using the run off to gain an advantage.

And because of this, it will put higher value on the odd-numbered grid slots as they will be able to more easily command the inside line on lap 1.

Dominicali about Spa and the calender on Autosport:
.
“As you can imagine I cannot comment too much on that, because there is respect of discussing and formalising through the World Motor Sport Council with the FIA,” he said. “You never saw something [from] me saying that Belgium will be the last year.

“I would be prudent on that comment, I would say, I would be very prudent. That's the only thing I would say. It's true that we are working and discussing with other promoters to see if they're ready for a full commitment already.

“There has been always a point that we have discussed to find the mix of the races where we're going to have at least one-third in Europe, one third in the Far East area, and the other one in the Americas and Middle East. So we want to be balanced.

“Of course, we're talking about a business where investment, the financial contribution, is very important, but we have always said that the traditional races, the races that we know they cannot bring the money that the others are bringing, have a full respect from us.

“So you will see that this will be respected also, not only this year, but also in the future. With Belgium, discussions are still on.”
Auto Hebdo this morning:
