Sunday Weather forecast:
60% chance of rain between 8pm-10pm local time.

If it is a wet/damp circuit, then traction and downforce will be key. Perhaps some teams are accounting for this.

On the basis of long runs, the race doesn't look like completing all the scheduled laps in race within 2 hours.
This is the case for nearly every race here, always tight up against the 2 hour maximum or having to stop the race early laps-wise. Might be time to reduce the total number of laps.

Since joining the calendar in 2008, the Singapore Grand Prix has never been completed in less than one hour and 51 minutes - in 2018 - and has hit F1’s two-hour time limit on four occasions.

I think pole is 1'48.800".

These cars just don't have the turn-in of the hydraulic Magic Carpets of 2019.

Oddly, after watching P1 and 2, I would expect lots in the AM and the McL can be found in the diff and pre-load settings. They need a bit of snap-bite on the inside rear wheel to induce rotation. I would tie it to engine RPM on the downshift, and only 4th gear and lower.
Did you mean a 1.40.8?
Actually, I meant 1'41 800"

I'll edit. Tyvm!

unless Ferrari is running higher engine mode, this is what they would look like without the TD.

Yeah,

I doubt they ran the pu higher than the usual Friday setting

Sainz is the only one who did proper laps. Leclerc and Verstappen were considerably compromised due to lack of running. I wouldn't expect the massive T17 abberation come qualifying.

I think it’s fine as is. Adds something to the mystique.

Race pace seemed to start in the 1:48s for the leaders. That's quite slow.

I am reasonably optimistic for Mercedes this weekend. I saw Toto was positive after P2, saying they could fight for pole and were good on race pace. Strangely both drivers were quite negative. Saying this LH was 1st in P1, albeit with better track conditions, but the car looked compliant and good round the lap, it appeared to have a good front-end to me.

In P2 he was matching Sainz on the medium and then neither Merc got in a clean lap on the soft so there's time there. Leclerc/Verstap both were compromised but equally went out on a faster track later in the session.

GR seemed to have a consistent long-run vs Sainz but the interesting one for me is LH's first lap on the longrun in the 1:47s, showing the potential - I often see when Ferrari/RB are quickest on a given weekend they pop in a lap much faster than anyone on their Friday longrun showing their potential. This isn't a huge standout as he was on soft but it is reasonably impressive.

What may count is if Merc can get the tyres working, they may be able to keep them in the window throughout the whole lap whereas RB especially may overheat at the end. Hopefully a 3-way fight.

Ponchos come in handy in Singapore. It is still pouring after torrential rain. Can sometimes fall down relatively out of nowhere. Third training will start soon, although it is questionable whether there will be driving.

follow up to that
Session starts on time, at 12:00 in the Netherlands, but pit exit remains closed. The clock is running, but drivers cannot (yet) hit the track. If they even wanted to.

Way too much standing water, will probably take at least 15 minutes to drain away..

will be interesting to see now how long it takes before it's dry again. Normally not long, could go from extreme weather to slicks within half an hour or so.
