Good that both merc drivers could get a feel again for w13 (pir tyre test) and can compare it straight away when W14 arrives.

As for RBR not showing the car  , then don't announce a launch.

Mercedes AMG + Hamilton => dreamteam!
If you can't beat'em, call Masi!

These events are not happening in isolation. It's not "nothing". Personnel will be feeling like the "Dream team" is coming to an end, piece by piece. Cowell gone. Vowles gone. Soon Hamilton and Toto. The team has to be planning for a post Wolff-Hamilton future.
The most likely future would be sale of the team, rather than any succession plan (imo); they are now very consciously NOT Mercedes, but Petronas AMG Ineos.
Toto & Mr Ineos are now the largest shareholders, Daimler (Mercedes) are down to around 30%), once it suits Daimler (and their product marketing), they will either scale back further or withdraw (and that will depend on future production and its compatibility with F1 power train direction (so, post 2030ish).

Just how I see things going…
Toto and Ineos are nothing without the AMG branding and the Mercedes funding of the different programmes is also key to the operation. Formula 1 is at it's most valuable now too. This is when dividends pay the highest. Mercedes will be in for a long time coming b

If Lewis gets sick and he fills in ans beats George and the other young guns like Max and LeClerc.
Are you suggesting Mercedes would want to replace Hamilton with Mick?
That would complete the circle yes.

He can Georges number 2 driver if anything. Nice little dynamic.

Schumacher shouldn’t be in the field anymore than Stroll.
Watching F1 since 1986.

If Mick didn't have the name he wouldn't even be a consideration for F1, to be blunt. No way is he getting in a Merc and blowing people away.

He’s there because of the name. This is the way F1 is headed, it’s why Ricciardo is third driver for RB. These teams utilise the profile of the driver, his media platforms and fan base, in a way of attracting new sponsors, and using them to promote events and promo’s. The likelihood of Ricciardo/Schumacher driving is slimmer than slim. They’re just there to promote the teams down other avenues away from the racing, in an attempt to exploit these new markets and fanbases.

Ricciardo is third driver because he made bad choices and ultimately failed miserably against Lando. F1 is not responsible for driver's situation where nobody other than a driver is responsible for the mess. As for Mick, it's obvious he is taken by Mercedes for their respect towards to the old man.

Mercedes is a german brand. Mick is a German driver, and son of a German legend. Do the math. Schumacher has marketing value. That what it comes down to.

That's the entire point of F1 nowadays. It's not like before when pure racing teams entered F1 without a car to sell on Monday.

Why is that bad? F1 is growing, many fans, events, off track activities. It is good that 3rd drivers are needed.

It is also a chance for any of the not 20 guys in a seat to stay close to F1. 20 is really a few only.

There's nothing bad about it. The teams are free to do as they please. It's not up to anyone other than the owners.

Not always the case the 3rd driver gets the seat for the race though. Russell sat in for Lewis in Turkey instead of De Vries (at the time)

On that, who is the 3rd driver for Mercedes now that they lost De Vries to the Red Bull camp

That's what I said, but differently. :) Old man's name will always remain the toast of Germany, Ferrari and Mercedes.

Is it not Mick? They just announced him as reserve

Then I would suggest it could be Hulkenberg and then Haas get a Ferrari reserve for a weekend, perhaps
