Also visible is the new engine cover with raised shark fin and Centreline gills underneath like Haas pioneered in '22

We won't hear it from the team if it's good or bad, but it doesn't look like something I'd expect. :? Too much lateral flow away from the beam wing and towards the gearbox area...
@vanja the engine cover has also changed lower down, sort of visible in the photo but more visible in original photos - could be to help reduce the inwashing flow into the coke bottle region that we saw in the flowviz and direct flow more towards the beam wing

That DRS contraption looks extremely clunky. Isn't the DRS actuator open source?

the same metal ring-like feature is visible in both images and the strut is visible too. It seems they have gone for extreme shrink-wrap packaging in this area compared to most teams

The ring details circled in both images seem to be visible. Maybe an attachment method of the front panel.

Cranked brightness..

The way the tray widens aftward and meets the tub seems unusual. In your photo--what are those two bronze bells?

Not sure, but it could be that they're emulating what RB had with their keel last season where they have the keel volume increasing in steps rather than smooth transition. And to do so they've gone with shrink wrapping around the front of the keel. and then it bulges outwards about where the bronze bells are, also in line with the beginning of the tunnels (driving a bit of outwash at that point?). Aft of the bronze bells it seems to become smoother again

Looking at it again, it almost looks like they're creating a third, Less substantial t-tray.. we've seen them all push for the double. Why not triple. In reality the radius probably not tight enough to shed significant structure ? But interesting nonetheless

That's enough wild speculation for me

Thanks, they upper part looks to be mostly reflections, the lower flatter area is what caught my eye; maybe the angle & perspective is throwing us off--makes it look like it's a flat plate stuck on the bottom of the chassis. Those bells inside though, haven't seen anything like that yet.

You know they sort of look like coil spring pillows, with the springs removed. Time will tell. As the fifth suspension member, would there be any benefit in increasing its unsprung weight? If so, could they be ballast. It's the lowest most easily accessible part of the car after all.

The other item of note is that there seems to be two dampers mounted in tandem in the center.

New nose for the C43 this weekend, very much the shape of the 2022 Ferrari nose.

NACA duct and rounded tip which connects to lowermost element with a taper. And with this is a corresponding front wing change which is more subtle.

Old nose for comparison (not connected to lower element, different duct, wider/different shape tip)

In order to keep swimming at the top of the midfield, Alfa Romeo is launching a first, more extensive package for the third race of the season. The innovations are concentrated on the front axle. Engineers baked a new nose and accompanying front wing. They expect it to be a good step forward in terms of lap times. Alpine, on the other hand, shouldn't have anything big in its luggage. This could lead to a shift in the balance of power.

Alfa had started the season with the old nose and the old wing. These components were revised late in the season at Suzuka last year. That's why they were given a little more time - also so that it's worth it with regard to the budget cap in Formula 1. The development step for Melbourne had been planned for a long time. Alfa-Sauber completed the necessary crash test for the new nose weeks ago.
