in a "normal" race:

If perez stays ahead after T1 then verstappen P1 @ lap 40-45
If alonso jumps perez, then verstappen P1 @ lap 30

No one will be able to defend against verstappen for more than a lap, leclerc maybe 2 or 3 laps.
If Verstappen beats Perez in the first scenario (without any safety cars) he should frankly lose his seat immediately.
If Checo is in front, he may well be under orders not to be too fast, as the quicker the front cars are, the further Max has to chase them and the more spread out they will be. Usually easier to catch and pass a gaggle fighting among themselves than to have to do it when the have space to drive at their own pace and defend one car.

It may not actually be as we see things. TBH, I would say 95% Max will win anyway unless he has a collision with lower cars
When arguing with a fool, be sure the other person is not doing the same thing.

It will be interesting for sure.

Do you start on the medium and go long if there’s a early safety car and get track position but be struggling on a medium tyre (others start soft) and be on 10-15 lap older tyres and expect them to hang on.

No idea on the predicted tyre pit windows, but I think a safety car is going to be the defining factor in the race. Granted be awesome to have none at all and let strategy take pure control.

Wow Alfa Romeo doing well. They looked to have a large rear wing too. Clearly an efficient car

Alfa's long runs on Friday looked super slow, though. But maybe they have found something since.

Hopefully enough to steal the fastest lap again, at least ;)

I'm guessing they ran very low engine modes courtesy of Ferrari

yeah, could be. The Haas was up there during the short runs (quicker than Ferrari), though, so there seems to be no general "take it easy" policy.

available tyres for the race: everything more or less as expected

(1xH and 1XM at Aston Martin are just scrubbed in. Same for Norris' mediums)

1x S for Perez has only a warmup lap + 1 sector on them at best. I think he abandoned his second qualy run somewhere in sector 1.

He could start on that tire.

Not having a new hard or soft is going to cost Aston, unless they start on mediums to others soft.

At most he only did 2 corners with that set of softs

Does anyone know the pitlane delta here?

If everyone is going to be "managing" for a 1 stop, then it might make sense for Verstappen to go on a very fast paced 2 stop.

they do it on purpose, because it's what they think is best for their car. No idea if it really comes with much of a measurable advantage, but I don't think it's going to cost them.

Got to wonder if Red Bull find it worth taking the risk and starting on the grid. Thinking Max might as well start from the pit lane. Do what Seb did in Abu Dhabi 2012 or whatever year it was.

Securing big points will be the main objective, as a team they don't actually gain from Max beating Checo. Might as well go for a low risk strategy with less likelyhood of a Max-win but almost guaranteed a top 4 finish.
